August Release Project Parade: Day 5

Happy Tuesday, Verve Fans!! It's Shannan here, coming by to share my project for this August's parade. This month we are mixing it up with the theme "Something Old, Something New" and let me just tell you...pulling out my older Verve sets has totally kick-started my mojo! This theme doesn't necessarily mean wedding (but of course it could) - its a challenge for anyone who would like to play along to use a previously released Verve stamp set with one of the new sets that was just released this August 20th. (If you don't have the newest Verve sets - no worries, just mix an older set from your stash with a "new to you" stamp set and join the fun!)

As I was going through all my stamp sets to choose something to work with, I couldn't decide on just one! So I made a little set of 3 cards, each using a new and an old set.

For the first card, I chose the large and small leafy image from Great Friend. I stamped them in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Kraft cardstock and added a few accents of patterned paper and lace trim. The sentiment from Believe was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

The next card I created showcases a sentiment from Framed Wishes (a special gift with purchase) and flower from Dream Big. I stamped one of my favorite Verve backgrounds ever, from Artful Elegance, in Versamark on Kraft cardstock. Some sponging and coordinating patterned paper finish this one off beautifully.

Last but not least, I created a card using the circle image from Happy Hello along with this gorgeous image and sentiment from Let it Shine. I punched different parts of the sunny flower image out with my circle punch, then popped them up over the stamped circles. To finish this one off, I added another touch of coordinating patterned paper, some Diamond Stickles, and some paper piercing.

I had a blast dusting off some of my older Verve sets...I hope you decide to give it a try! There's also a chance to win some Verve stamps - check out how you can score some:

1. Play along with us and link up your new SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creation (posted August 25th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY 1 PARADE POST before midnight on Wednesday, September 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creations. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!
We hope you'll play along! We LOVE to see your creations!

I'm sure I don't have to tell you how FAB the latest summery stamp release was! I just love every single stamp set, but that's not really a surprise;) I reached for a couple different stamp sets for this card:
The sentiment and small sun images (the sun image is stamped on the yellow dp, can ya see it???) are from Let it Shine, the sparkly sun peek out from behind the wave is from Relax, and the fun wavey circle is from Happy Days! I really love this fun, summery color combination! The papers are from the new collection by Cosmo Cricket called DeLovely!

SO have you loved the Diva's creations this past week? Well hold on tight cause there is plenty more on the way!

March Project Parade - Day 13

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  It's Mercy here, and I am rounding out the 13th and final day of the March 2010 Project Parade!  I have been creating cards that are more along the clean-and-simple side lately, so I wanted to continue the trend today.
I needed a card for a sweet friend of mine who has always brought a smile to my face and sunshine into my heart, so I immediately reached for the "Let It Shine" stamp set.  I love this set because not only are there several images to use to create a sun, but there are also just as many images one can use to create cool flowers.  These images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto White Cardstock, then colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  I created the sun by layering the three similar images in the set, then used the smallest of the three as flowers.  I stamped the sentiment "little miss sunshine" in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Pumpkin Cardstock, then punch the upper edge with a Spiral Punch.  I added a border punch, and created grass by simply cutting the Wasabi Cardstock with scissors.  The stems on the flowers were stitched using my Janome Sewing Machine, and all four corners of the Kraft Cardstock panel were pierced with a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer.  I also kept the embellishments simple by punching a hole through the creating a slit in the upper right corner, running a piece of Pumpkin Striped Ribbon through it, then tied it off with a piece of Linen Thread.

That's it for me!  Be sure to read the rules below for a chance to win some amazing goodies!  Until later......

March Project Parade ~ Day 10

Hi Verve Fans it's Lynda and I'm here to share with you my "Fun with Flowers" project!! This was an easy theme since Verve has the most beautiful flower stamps around!

I bought the memo holder at Target on clearance for about $5 some time ago. I made this for a friends birthday. All she needs to do is to add a picture of her beautiful family and put it on her desk at work! Luckily, she likes bling as much as I do!!! LOL!!!

Above is a picture of the note holder closed. The sentiment is an SU! rub on. I added some small Martha Stewart butterflies which I punched using dark pink and light blue K&Co. glitter paper. I added some small Zva rhinestones in the centers of each butterfly to tie in with the Zva rhinestone flourish. For the flowers ~ you know the blue glitter tissue paper Julee sends her stamps in??? Well, I used that and stamped the 2 flowers from the Feel the Sun set using Basic Black ink, multiple times. The top flower has both sizes layered and the bottom flower is just the smaller image. After cutting out the images, I squished them in to a ball, unraveled them and then layered them. I have a closer look at the flower further down in this post.

Here is a picture of the note holder open. The top of the box folds in to an easel to display the photo. Not only did I decorate the front but I stamped the blank memo papers inside.

My friend is the head nurse for a local Hematology ~ Oncology group of Doctors so I chose the Believe in Miracles sentiment from Verve's Believe set and paired it with the smaller flower from the Feel the Sun set for some of the blank notes. I stamped some other sentiments as well which you can find further down in this post. The flower was stamped using Cool Caribbean ink which matched Julee's blue tissue paper perfectly!

Here is a closer look at my fluffy flower and bling!!! You didn't think I would make something without bling did you? LOLOLOL!!!!

The silver flowers in the centers of the fluffy flowers are from SU!. I then added a Basic Grey large clear rhinestone for the centers of the silver metal flowers.

Here are 3 of the sentiments and flowers on more of the blank memo's. For these, I used both the Feel the Sun set as well as the Let it Shine set.

March Project Parade ~ Day One

Happy Spring Everyone! Saturday officially marked the first day of spring and all of the Verve Divas are preparing some great spring-y {sure, it's a word!} projects for you to see. This month's theme is...

. . . . .FUN WITH FLOWERS. . . . .

This is a pretty broad theme, so I know that you can play along!

I decided to create a project using die cut flowers {from my Slice Wedding Design Card} stamped with Polka Dots from the Verve Bountiful Backgrounds as the main part of my project.

The sentiment is from the new set, Let It Shine, and is framed with a scalloped circle covered in glazed glitter. The flower panel could have easily been mounted on a card or even added to a scrapbook page, but I thought that it would be fun to create a gift-able project with it. I tried out both real and paper flower pots before I just stuck it in a bad of candy. I think this particular one looks best this way, but it would certainly be fun to create bouquets.

It would be a lot of fun to make this for a gift or other special occasions, too. Just a few ideas that come to mind...

  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Wedding Favors
  • Table Numbers at Receptions
  • Baby Shower Favors
  • Congratulations or...
...Just Because for friends, family or neighbors

As with all of our Project Parades, we've got prizes! There are two ways to win:

Spring Fling: Challenge 1

Hi Verve Friends, Lynda here. Are you ready to have some fun?!?!? I hope so because I am!!! The Diva's have LOTS in store for you today!! We have challenges, sneak peeks, a blog hop, partying in the Verve Forum at 9pm EST and of course during our partying & chatting in the forum, Julee will reveal the beautiful NEW stamp sets!!! I am here to tell you, you DO NOT want to miss it, the stamps are AMAZING, as usual!! LOL!!

On to the challenge! I am challenging you to make a CLEAN AND SIMPLE card, project or scrapbook page using FLOWERS. See, easy peasy!! LOL!!!

Here a couple samples to get your creative juices flowing!!! The first card was made by my FANTASTIC guest, Stephanie Kraft! I LOVE Stephanie's work and am honored to have her as my guest today!!!Stephanie used Verve's Love's Flower and Wonderful Wishes (Wonderful Wishes is retired but there is a set called Wishing You that is an update version of Wonderful Wishes that you might be interested in). Stephanie embossed the flower using black embossing powder and layered it. It is difficult to see in the picture but she also embossed (using white embossing powder) the flower on the white background. The colors are so rich and her stitching is perfect!!! I can't seem to get my stitching to be straight like that. I am SURE my sewing machine has a defect!!! LOLOL!!!! Such a gorgeous card Stephanie and THANK YOU for being my guest!!!!

Here is my card ~

For my card, I stamped the background of the Kraft panel using the polka dot stamp from the Bountiful Backgrounds set and Versamark ink. I then stamped the DARLING flowers from the new Verve set called Let it Shine using Snow White ink (PTI). I colored portions of the flower using my Blue Frost Copic Marker, added some blue Swarovski crystals and OF COURSE I added some clear glitter to the colored portions of the flower using my Copic Spica glitter pen.

Here is a closer look at the flowers ~

Aren't they beautiful?!?! Julee always adds such beautiful details to her images. Better get your wish list started, you are going to LOVE these stamps!!!!

To follow are the challenge details!

So are you ready for some more crafty fun? Just make a flowery clean & simple stamped card, project or scrapbook page and upload a photo to your blog or online gallery. Then click the image above to add your link using the Mr. Linky entry form. Entries are due by 11:59pm on Monday, March 8.

One lucky entry will win a $25 Verve Stamps gift certificate!

Have fun and good luck!
