I love these kinds of challenges!  It's fun to look back over the past year's creations!  I think we all should do it more often!  :-)

I've said it before, but I can't help but say it again...  I LOVE Verve sentiments!  The fonts are stunning, as are the quotes and sentiments that she includes in her sets!  I especially love the font in this set, More Than Love!  And just look at that distressed heart!  Love, love, love it!  I used the Sweet Scallop Tag die to create my tag.  I added some seam binding (from the Stormy Skies Collection) and several flowers for embellishment.

Vellum Visions - November Diva Dare

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  Stacey here, bringing you another day of Vellum Visions inspiration for this month's challenge!  Soft and classy...vellum always makes a big impression!  So, this month we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project.

Vellum!  What can I say?!  I LOVE vellum...it makes me happy!  It's so soft and subtle, yet adds such a fabulous texture and elegance to cards that is perfect for all occasions.  As I was flipping through my beloved Verve stamp sets, this one.. Shining Star, really caught my eye!  I paired the faithful sentiment from it with the Sweet Scallop Die and Starry Die.  Vellum stars...yes!  I embellished the soft stars with some sparkly sequins and a fun bow from the Pastel Polka Ribbon Collection.

May 2014 Diva Dare - Day 5

Good Morning! Christyne here welcoming you to Day 5 of this month's Diva Dare entitled "Petals and Wings". 

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it. 

Flowers and butterflies are two of my favorite card elements and there are so many Verve selections to choose from that it was difficult to find a place to begin with this challenge.  I ultimately chose the refreshed Petals and Wings set as the lines are soft and they really gave me an "early spring" vibe.  I paired the beautiful images from this set  and the coordinating Petals and Wings Dies with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (#344), incorporating a few other unique elements including the Die Sidekicks stamps set, Sweet Scalloped Tag Die, the Flag It Die Set, the Rounded Frame Scallop Die and the Shine Bright Sequins Mix.  I hope you are all feelin' some spring in your local weather lately, as it is certainly welcome in my neck of the woods!!

November Diva Dare - Day 4

"Shape Up", November Diva Dare

Hey there Verve fans!! Jen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare entitled "Shape Up".

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a card or project including a common shape.  For example:  hexagons, chevrons, arrows, triangles, hearts, stars etc.  Lots of fun ways you can go with this dare and I can't wait to see what you create!

Here's my card:

 

I had so many ideas for how to take on this challenge it was a bit hard for me to pare it all down into one card, lol. I had arrows and stars and hexagons die cut but had to hold myself back a little bit, lol. 

To start off I knew I wanted to use Chevron Love and this gorgeous Chalkboard paper pad from We R Memory Keepers which is hands down my current favorite paper, though I've been hoarding it a bit so I don't use it up too fast. To go with Chevron Love I pulled out my Sweet Scallop Die, Banner Bundle Dies, Pennant Trim die and the smaller of the two Wavy Heart Dies. From there I honestly just let it all flow together. I started die cutting like crazy until I had all the pieces I wanted. I distressed it all up and added a bit of embossing to the tag and to the edges of the kraft heart and kraft background. The layout just kind of did it's own thing and I really didn't have a plan or a sketch which is odd for me. To finish up I added a bit of ribbon and a twine bow and button to the tag and it was done.

Hello Verve fans!! Christyne here today bringing you Day 8 of October Diva Dare inspirations!  Without further pause, this month's Dare is:

Tag, You're It, October Diva Dare

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a gift tag, use a tag on a card, or be inspired by a tag!  

For my card, I decided to go with the classic Sweet Scallop Tag and Sweet Scallop Tag Die.  I paired these with the newly released Poppy Birthday Set and some sweet pink for some shabby tag lovin'.  I also made use of my favorite doilie accent along with this week's Deconstructed sketch from Diva Jen.  I added some fun pennant and banner flairs as per the sketch using the Flag It Die Set and the Banner Bundle Die Set.  Finally, I added a bold pink bow using the Truly, Madly, Deeply Ribbon Collection.

October Diva Dare ~ Day 5

Hey there! Amber here with Day FIVE of the October Diva Dare!

Tag, You're It, October Diva Dare

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a gift tag, use a tag on a card, or be inspired by a tag!  

I wanted to do something a little different and create a sort of collage with the Sweet Scallop Tag dies and Poppy Birthday!

First, I cut out several tags with the Sweet Scallop tag and the Tiny Sweet Scallop tag die sets, and then layered them on my card. I wish I would have taken a pic of this, when all the tags were blank, oh well!

After getting them layered how I wanted them, I'd pull them out one at a time and stamp each one. I doodled around the edges to kind of break the tags up, and also added some fun sequins from the Pastel Sequin Mix.

This was pretty fun, I think I'll do it again soon! On the right hand side of the card, I stamped a couple tag stamps from Tag Time and then stamped "wish big" (also from Tag Time). I doodled some cross stitches in the bottom tag for some fun detail!

August Diva Dare - Day 7

Hi Verve fans!  Laurie S. here, and it's my turn to share with you how I answered this month's Diva Dare!

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.   

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!  

Here's what I came up with...

Those of you that know me, already know that this challenge is right up my alley!  :-)  Lots of layers and embellishments...sign me up, please!  Both Andrea and Christyne are Divas that I admire and it was SO much fun paying tribute to them this month!

Even though I didn't use a flower cluster (even I couldn't fit any more embellishments on this card LOL!), I did go with a "sweet" theme!  Nothing is sweeter in my mind that a great cup of Java!  Mmmmm!  ;-)

The coffee cup and sentiment are from Better With You set.  The cute tag was created using the Sweet Scallop Tag Die and the seam binding is from the Truly Madly Deeply Seam Binding Collection!  (I adore the colors Julee has put together in her seam binding collections...absolutely LOVE them!)

September Diva Dare ~ Day 8!

Hi everyone!! Maureen here to give you Day 8 of the September Diva Dare!  This month, we've come up with a fun challenge, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva!  With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast!  For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything.  And that is just fancy talk for copying!  What you copy is up to you!  It can be a layout, color scheme, or even something more subtle like a certain embellishment cluster!

I LOVED this challenge as soon as I heard about it, I thought, “EEK!!!  How will I ever choose?”  Lucky for us Divas, Andrea came up with the fabulous “draw a Diva” idea.  Phew!!  It didn’t matter who I got as I LOVE all the Divas and their work and would be honoured to CASE any one of them!!  My draw?  The super sweet and ultra talented Diva Teresa Kline!!  Oh, my!!  Love her!  No, seriously, L-O-V-E her!!  So off to her Verve Gallery I went to TRY and NARROW down one card I could CASE and do her proud.  And like me, I had to pick 3 projects ( HERE 1, HERE 2, HERE 3) lol.   BUT, I put them into one card here :)  So, this is what I know about Teresa’s style…gorgeous, muted papers, LOADS of distressing, fun stitching, lace, seam binding and lots of elegant details.  Yes, DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS.  I think I’ve done that using the You and I and Love Notes sets along with the Jotted Heart and I {heart} U dies.

I love adding a little bookmark as a little added bonus in an envelope.  Here it is using a fabulous quote from Words of Wisdom on the Sweet Scallop Tag die.

January Diva Dare – Day 10

Greetings Verve Fans!!!  It’s Maureen and I have the honour of wrapping up our fabulous new Diva Dare Challenge this month.  I don’t know about you, but the Divas have been melting my heart for the last 9 days with the sweetest Baby Love creations.  Before I get onto my take for the challenge here are a few details…

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love!  The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone!  Be sure to look for the details on how you can win some new Verve goodies at the end of this post!

My ideas for this one kept changing over the week…UNTIL I noticed one of my 7 year old female students wear the sweetest little zippered flower party shoes to school.  I then thought of my sweet little niece, Ava, who is around the same age.  She is the last girl grandchild in our family so her (and her twin brother!) are the “babies,” no matter what age they are! LOL  So with “zippers,” my sweet and patient-with-the-boys-in-our-class girl students and my sweet “baby girl” niece in mind, I created this card…

I used a stamp from Text Objects to make a black border, then stamped “Baby Girl” from To the Moon in different colours to match the zipper.  I love this “You Go Girl” sentiment from the same To the Moon set.  With zipper flowers on my brain, I wanted to make (YES “make with my own hands!” lol ) a fun zipper flower hair band to wrap up as a little gift.  I have only one son so I’m always fascinated by how my girl students and niece are wearing their hair on any given day.

Of course, the hair band needs to be wrapped in some fun packaging with a fabulous matching tag…

Oh, I just love using this Sweet Treat stamp with the Sweet Scallop die :)  Here’s a closeup…

Winter Project Parade ~ Day 12

Happy Friday, everyone!  It’s Mercy here to share my Triple Play Project Parade, but I just wanted to remind you about another release hop today!  The new sets are amazing  and the Diva's have some wonderful samples to show you.  For the complete blog hop list head on over to Julee's blog.....

I must admit that when Jen announced the theme for this month’s Project Parade I was freaking out.  I had nothing pop into my mind, nor did I have any clue as to a place to start!  LOL!  I finally had an idea hit me the day after the theme was announced, so I set to it…after all, who DOESN’T like homemade muffins? :)

I headed to my gift wrapping stash and grabbed some tissue paper, silver cording, and ribbon to create this special and one-of-a-kind gift.  I stamped the largest and smallest snowflakes from the “Glad Tidings” set in Riding Hood Red and Celery Ink onto the outside of the tissue paper.  I layered the Banana Nut muffin in parchment paper then the stamped tissue paper, and I tied a piece of Sleigh Ride Ribbon around them.  I stamped the tag from the same set in White Staz-On Ink onto a piece of Riding Hood Red Cardstock, and used the new Sweet Scallop Tag Die to cut it out.  To add some depth, I went over the outside of the snowflake with a White Gel Pen.  I added a Silver Eyelet and some Silver Cording to the completed tag, and also put a Rhinestone Stone in the center of the snowflake.  I tied it loosely to the Sleigh Ride Ribbon to complete the muffin pack.

The simple 3X3 Riding Hood Red card was created by stamping one of the sentiments from the same set in White Staz-On Ink above the strip of patterned paper from Memory Box’s Spiceberry paper pack.  I added a row of piercing on the top edge of the patterned paper, then created three small snowflakes using my Big Shot and Spellbinders’ snowflake dies.  I added some sparkle by using Crystal Stickles, and gave each flake a Button and Silver Cording center.

Winter Release Project Parade ~ Day 9

Can you believe it's the last day of November already? WOW! 2010 is almost done. Well, since the theme for this month's project parade is "Triple Play", I have three projects to share with you. I decided to decorate a frame ornament, the gift bag to put it in, and a card to go with the gift.

First, here's the card: All the images I used are from the Glad Tidings set. I'm a sucker for snowflakes!!

I started off die cutting the frame with Spellbinders' Labels 2 Nestabilities. For the inner frame, I just turned the Label die 90 degrees. I then sponged the edges with Aquatic Splash VersaMagic Ink. The back panel has the snowflakes stamped with Versamark on them. I used Irridescent Ice embossing powder on them, but if you don't have a glittery ep, just add some glitter to your transparent ep to get the subtle sparkly effect. Here's a close up of the snowflakes.

The sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine, and I added some White Opaque Vivadecor gel dots with glitter around the frames. Lastly, I added some silk ribbon with silver cord, an antique button, tiny blue rhinestones, and some scoring, piercing, and punching to the border.

Now, for the ornament frame:

Frames are an easy gift. I just took this birdcage ornament that I got from Pottery barn, and added the Glad Tidings Snowflake and Christmas Blessing images to the 2" circle frame. The recipient can either replace the stamped piece with a photo, or leave it as is. I thought it would be fun to add a little gift inside too, so I sewed a little organza bag and added some Hershey Kisses. I thought the blue foil fit perfectly with my color theme.

Finally, the gift bag:

I stamped the tag image and sentiment with Onyx Black Versafine, and diecut it with the new Sweet Scallop Die. I then sponged the edges with Aquatic Splash Versafine, and added some blue glitter to the flake with a Quicky Glue Pen. I again stamped the snowflakes onto the bag with Versamark and added the Irridescent Ice ep. Here's a closer look at the flakes and tag:

To top off the bag, I added some satin ribbon, silver cording, and a button.
I love all the sparkle with this project. It really pops irl!! Hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared with you today.

Winter Release Project Parade--Day 8

Hey everyone!  It's Charmaine here with Day 8 of this month's Project Parade!  This month's theme is Triple Play. . .to create a trio of  Verve-y goodness!  I'm here today to share my creation with you! 

One thing I get requests for EVERY year from family and friends is card sets.  Actually, they ask for them all year round, but for the holidays I like to create coordinating sets rather than just putting an assortment of cards together.  For this month's challenge, I decided to create a card set (of all of the same card), a coordinating box to hold the cards and a gift card holder. 

I started out with the card and used last week's Mojo Monday Challenge for the layout.  I used the Merry Wishes set paired with the Vintage Oval Frame set and coordinating die.  I used the Season's Greetings Cuttlebug folder for the base of the card.  I accented with a while gel pen and framed the edges with dots.

For the box, I took a panel of cardstock and embossed it before attaching it to the actual box so that the embossed sentiments would be right side up.  The box was made using an 8.5"x11" piece of cardstock and scoring the 8.5" side at 1.25" on each end and then scoring the 11" side at 4.75" from each end. 

After assembling the box, I added ribbon for the handles and used the Sweet Scallop Tag stamp for the tag along with the coordinating Sweet Scallop die. The sentiment on the tag is from the Glad Tidings set.  I added some tissue paper to house the cards.

I created a gift card holder to put in the box along with the card set.  This is great if you need a little something more to add to the gift.
