December Diva Dare ~ Day 4

"Playing Favorites", December Diva Dare

Welcome to the last Diva Dare of 2013!  This month's Dare is entitled "Playing Favorites" and it is a fun one indeed!

What we're daring you to do this month is to post your favorite Verve Stamps 2013 creation OR make a new card using your favorite Verve stamp set.  

I have *way* too many favorite Verve stamp sets, like ALL of them are my favorite, ha! 

I know the girls have been posting their favorite cards of the year, but I created a new one! 

I pulled out a few of my favorite stamp sets and went nuts!

First I stamped the presents from Borderline in the corners of the kraft card base. Then I added a piece of double-sided patterned paper and folded opposing corners in, so you could see the presents in the background. 

The flowers are from Poppy Birthday, another favorite stamp set from this year! Super fabulous Poppy building set, plus matching dies!

The sentiment is from Poppy Birthday and the scalloped frame is from Making a Statement.The frame was cut out with the coordinating Rounded Scallop Frame die. The faux stitching is a stamp from Borderline, love it! I also added some of the small banners from the Banner Bundle die set. 

As a fun extra this month, the Divas are answering "The Diva Fab Five Questionnaire."  Here goes!

1. Your three favorite Verve products--My three favorite Verve products, wow. I can't pick only three!! So I'm gonna go BROAD here...I love Verve stamps, Verve dies, and Verve seam binding! There I said it, I love all things Verve :D 

2. Your current go-to color combination--My favorite color combos are either earth tones (as evidenced by my card today!) or aqua, pink, and kraft! 

3. Your current go-to embellishment--buttons and twine, it'd be a real treasure hunt to find a card of mine without at least one of these embellishments, lol!

4. Your favorite stamping or organizational tool--I can't make a card without dies or my Big Shot! I've tried to go to crops before, or stamp with a friend, but unless I have my Big Shot and ALL my dies, I can't make a card, I go into full-on panic mode!

5. Your favorite treat--I don't eat while stamping, too messy! But I do like a glass of wine, or good ole' ice water while stamping!

September Diva Dare-Day 2

Tic-Tac-Toe, September Diva Dare

Good morning Verve fans, it is Teresa and I am sharing my take on the super fun Tic-Tac-Toe dare.

So what we're daring you to create this month is a card or project using inspiration from a tic-tac-toe board. For example: x’s and o’s, hugs & kisses, squares, circles, grids, you get the idea.    

Here is my how I answered the dare.

I knew I wanted to add a real game of Tic-Tac-Toe to my card; who has not played a fun game of Tic-Tac-Toe with their sweetie? I started with the Verve stamp set Tag Time, luv the little grid tag! Then I hand wrote in the sweet game in the top corner...cuuuute! I reached for the sentiment from the set Making A Statement. I thought it was perfect!  Not only the dh and I are meant to be, but so are x's and o's, hugs and kisses, peanut butter and jelly, peas and carrots......so on and so on....lol. I sure hope I have inspired you today, have fun with this month's Verve Diva Dare!

August Diva Dare ~ Day 4

Pile On the Sweetness, August Diva Dare

Hello Dare Divas!  Janelle here today to bring you Day 4 of this month's "Pile on the Sweetness" Diva Dare.

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.   

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!  

So here's my card for the Dare...

Our Diva's this month inspire me with clusters of goodies, bling and mellow colors. I tried to stay as close to what inspires me from Andrea and Christyne so I used the lacy flowers and leaves from Making a Statement along with the scalloped frame and sentiment from the same set. The sweetness of these stamps are that they have coordinating dies! Use Loopy Blooms Die Set and Rounded Scallop Frame Die. Use can also use one of the many Banner, Banner Bundle or Flag It dies to make the double-ended banners. Just use a die wider than the strip of paper and cut only the ends on both sides. Layers upon layers are finished off with some black liquid pearls.

I used the Mojo Monday #306 sketch for my card today! It's perfect for the layered theme of this month's Diva Dare.

July Diva Dare 2012 ~ Day 3

Hi ya!  Laurie here, and I'm here to share how I answered the latest Diva Dare! 

This month, we dare you to make a card or project using a BIRTHDAY theme. July happens to be a big birthday month here at Verve...five of our Divas have July birthdays, including the boss lady, Julee. Let's celebrate with some fun birthday projects, shall we? We can't wait to see how you answer the dare! (Stay tuned to see how you could win some shiny new Verve!)

When I sat down to create a birthday card...well, let's just say that I was having too much fun to stop at one!  So, I have three birthday cards to share with you!

I created this first card in the shape of something that I personally love....a cupcake!  I used my Silhouette machine to create the card base (the top is some pink cardstock and the bottom is from the Happy Travels Collection from Glitz Design).  I embossed the sentiment (from the Sunny Days set) on the bottom and added some stamped leafy sprigs (also from the Sunny Days set and cut out with the Leafy Sprigs die) under the pink bow.

For my second card, I cut out a birthday cake using my Silhouette and some papers from the Nostalgia paper pad by My Mind's Eye.  To complete the card, I added a stamped focal image created from the Making a Statement stamp set along with the Rounded Scallop Frame and Loopy Blooms dies.





For my third card, I again used my Silhouette to create another birthday themed shape...a gift box complete with a bow!  To decorate the outside, I added some polka dots as well as a stamped border along the bottom (using the star from the Birthday Bash set).

The inside (actually, the insert) is decorated using a sentiment and stamped stars also from the Birthday Bash set.

September Diva Dare ~ Day 8!

Hi everyone!! Maureen here to give you Day 8 of the September Diva Dare!  This month, we've come up with a fun challenge, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva!  With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast!  For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything.  And that is just fancy talk for copying!  What you copy is up to you!  It can be a layout, color scheme, or even something more subtle like a certain embellishment cluster!

I LOVED this challenge as soon as I heard about it, I thought, “EEK!!!  How will I ever choose?”  Lucky for us Divas, Andrea came up with the fabulous “draw a Diva” idea.  Phew!!  It didn’t matter who I got as I LOVE all the Divas and their work and would be honoured to CASE any one of them!!  My draw?  The super sweet and ultra talented Diva Teresa Kline!!  Oh, my!!  Love her!  No, seriously, L-O-V-E her!!  So off to her Verve Gallery I went to TRY and NARROW down one card I could CASE and do her proud.  And like me, I had to pick 3 projects ( HERE 1, HERE 2, HERE 3) lol.   BUT, I put them into one card here :)  So, this is what I know about Teresa’s style…gorgeous, muted papers, LOADS of distressing, fun stitching, lace, seam binding and lots of elegant details.  Yes, DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS.  I think I’ve done that using the You and I and Love Notes sets along with the Jotted Heart and I {heart} U dies.

I love adding a little bookmark as a little added bonus in an envelope.  Here it is using a fabulous quote from Words of Wisdom on the Sweet Scallop Tag die.

September Diva Dare - Day Four

I have the distinct honor of CASEing Jackie. What fun to be "Jackie" for awhile. Channeling her diva skills, using her sketch...and ideas....*grin*. Pure stamping fun!!

Now comes the really hard part. Choosing one of Jackie's stunning cards. No easy task, let me tell you. I finally settled on THIS ONE, because I liked the layout and shapes she used. I don't normally think vertical like her sketch suggests, so it was fun to work with. She also has a fabulous way of working with colors and patterns. I loved the horizontal striped panel in the back.

Here's what I came up with.

I used the same set, Sunny Days, for the flowers and leaves, and added a sentiment from the set Making a Statement. I changed my shapes up a bit, and added some Webster's Pages flocked netting behind the main panel. I also changed my color palette.

So, Andrea had the task of matching all of us Diva's up to the talented girl we'd be case'ing. No matter who we got paired up with was going to be a challenge because every single one of these Diva's is full of talent. I happened to get Laurie! OMG, right? Nothing like a little pressure to get your mojo going, haha! I always love her elegant, distressed, shabby style. I was MUCHO intimidated, but as I started going through Laurie's gallery, I was also MUCHO inspired:) After alot of "hmmmm'ing" and "haw'ing" I decided on THIS beauty! I loved the diagonal panel and wanted to see what I could do with it!

I knew I had to have distressing, inked edges, and fabulous sewing to even come CLOSE to making Laurie proud! The sentiment is from "Making a Statement" and the leaves are from "Sunny Days" and cut out with the "Leafy Springs Die Set".  The heart behind the sentiment is cut out using the Jotted Heart die. The diagonal panel is paper from MME's Lost and Found Two line. I also used some fabulous SU! ribbon and a Recollections rose!
