Project Parade ~ Day 9!!!

Hi Verve fans, Lynda here! Today is my day to share with you my project based on this month's Project Parade them of "It's a Guy thing". I am SURE I am not the only woman in the world that has a husband that wouldn't know how to buy a gift unless it jumped in his cart at Home Depot or Gander Mountain!!! LOL!! I have already received my fill of fishing poles, Waders, yard tools, etc... so for this challenge, I took a different route since my husband is different!! LOL!!!

To help him APPEAR to be thoughtful and giving, I made an Origami box along with matching cards for his Dad, Mom, our Son and our Daughter. I felt like an idiot making a card for myself so I'll just do without!! LOL!!!
He may not be the best shopper but he is a fantastic Father and a wonderful Husband! LOL!!!

I found the instructions for this box on SCS HERE for one of their Technique Challenges. The instructions are really easy to follow! The decorative paper I used on the box as well as all of the cards if from SU!'s "To the Nines" Collection. The card stock I used were the colors that coordinated with the DP. What I will do is provide a shopping list for each card & the box so you won't get tired of reading while I ramble on!!! LOL!!!

Project Parade Day 9

Hi there! It's Laura, and welcome to day nine of our Project Parade. I'm quite excited to share my project with you today. You see, Jen's challenge this month to create something to honour the women in our lives, was just the push I needed to tackle a project that I'd had in the back of my mind for some time now.

I made this for my sister, who is not a cardmaker, despite many attempts to lure her over to the world of stamping. Now, she does like and appreciate handmade cards, and I don't think she buys store bought cards, because Mom keeps her supplied with as many cards as she might ever need. Except, what about the cards she gives Mom? I know she often pulls out a card Mom made and gives it right back to her, so I thought I would give her a selection of cards that covered all the occasions she might want to give Mom a card for.
I pulled out some old designer paper from my stash, and stamped the flowers from Wishful Elegance on a 4 1/4" x 12" panel. I pulled the stem from Thankful Blossoms one of my favorite Verve sets to create a garden effect. The flowers were coloured in with an SU! marker, then adhered to the tin with Modge Podge. I filled the flower centres with Gunmetal Stickles, and added some black trim to the top.

The lid was covered in the same manner, using two 2"x7" pieces of the designer paper, with small cut outs for the handle attachments. I added some flowers to the top and ribbon around the handle. The word "cards" are chipboard letters covered in Gunmetal Stickles. In hindsight, I wish I had coloured them black first, but the sparkles is still there, although it doesn't show well in the photograph.

I couldn't finish without creating a matching card, so using a scrap of the left over designer paper, I created the same scene on the lower portion with Wishful Elegance and Thankful Blossoms, and added the sentiment from Because of You above. I separated the two components with a strip of black satin ribbon. The flowers were coloured with a marker again, and their centres filled with Gunmetal Stickles.

I am looking so forward to giving this to my sister, and I think I met Jen's challenge head on! After all this honours two amazing women in my life!

So are you gonna play too? Just make a project or card that fits your style and celebrates a woman in your life. It can be any woman ... mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher - you get the idea! Just add your project link to the Mr. Linky form IN THIS POST before 8PM Mountain on Thursday, May 14th. Two random participants will be chosen and win $25 gift certificates to the Verve Store. Have fun and good luck!

Have a fabulous day, and thanks for popping by!

Project Parade Day 8: It's a Girl Thing!

Hi everyone, it's Michelle! Welcome to Day 8 of this month's project parade. I have sooo been loving all the projects the Divas have shown so far, haven't they been amazing?!?

I love the idea of doing a project to honor the women in our lives. I chose to make a project for my sister! She is my best friend and my rock. I am lucky enough to live 4 miles away from her and what a blessing that is. It was fun to make a little something for her with these rockin' new stamps this month.

I went with something that had bright and fun colors. Recognize my candy box? It is actually a Prima Essentials box that I covered over. I was all set to make a box with acetate and instructions off SCS, then seriously, I looked in my recycle bin and there it was -my empty prima box!! I covered the bottom and top with Basic Grey Urban Prairie DP. All the flowers are from the Wishful Elegance set. I love, love, and I mean LOVE these starburst shaped flowers. They are fun to color and very easy to cut out. I used copic markers to color them and all the centers have some rhinestone bling in them. The sentiment on both the card and the box are from Because of You. Don't these Hershey's Kisses look yummy? Confession, I have eaten 4 since I started typing this post! LOL!

Here is the little card I made to coordinate. It measures 4 1/4" square. It's hard to see in the picture, but there are scored lines in between each DP panel. I think it adds just the right amount of umph!

Would you like to play along with us? Just make a project or card that fits your style and celebrates a woman in your life. It can be any woman ... mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher - you get the idea! Just add your project link to the Mr. Linky form IN THIS POST before 8PM Mountain on Thursday, May 14th. Two random participants will be chosen and win $25 gift certificates to the Verve Store. Have fun and good luck!
Thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Preview - Wishful Elegance

Hey there, Verve Fans! Are you lovin' the previews so far? We have another day packed full of eye candy for you today! This time you get a peek at a new set called Wishful Elegance. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

From diva Shannan Teubner:

When I first laid eyes on Wishful Elegance, I was so excited to see another background, Verve style! Fresh, elegant, and versatile are all things that you have come to expect from Verve, and this set is no exception. I was inspired by this ribbon (from May Arts) to go with this color combo. I stamped the background in Versamark on Kraft cardstock and embossed it with white embossing powder. I then stamped the flower image three times on the main panel, and added the sentiment. I masked the sentiment with a piece of scrap paper and stamped some stems with the stem image from Thankful Blossoms. I then stamped the flower three more times on white cardstock and colored them with Copics, cut them out, and popped them up with dimensionals. Some buttons with twine and a few black accent layers finished off my bright, fun birthday card.

From diva Laurie Schmidlin:

Just when I think I know what my all-time favorite Verve set is....Julee goes and makes another gorgeous set that takes over that fave spot! That is exactly what happened with the new sets that are being released this month!! Wishful Elegance is so versatile, and I can definitely see this becoming my "go-to" set! For my project today, I used the large and small daisy stamp (all colored in with Copics). The photo holder is one that I picked up at JoAnn's in the "dollar bin". Even though it was decorated in a cheer leading theme, I saw possibilities! I took off all of the existing images, repainted it in black, and added my flower images (each side has a different color flower that coordinates with the card). I wanted a curved edge on my card, so I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and some masking to emboss the Birthday Wishes sentiment along the curved edge. For embellishments, I added a few buttons, some ribbon, & rhinestones.

From diva Susan Liles:

Hello Verve fans! Well, it looks like that genius we all know and love as the Verve-alicious Julee Tilman has done it again! She has come up with some more WOW sets for April! My card for today uses Wishful Elegance. This set covers all the bases from Birthday to Anniversary, to Wedding. It can be dressed up or down to fit any style as well. Here I went for a more "scrappy" look, following a trendy color scheme of black, pinks and aquas. I love how the sentiments are a combination of block letters and script, too. The pattern on the dark pink layer was made with a background stamp included in the set that is so easy to line up to keep everything nice and straight. So if you're "wishing" for a little "elegance", Verve's got you covered this month!

From diva Jackie Pedro:

When I saw this month's new sets I literally swooned!! I don't know how Julee does it month after month, but you are going to swoon, too, when you get a peek at these new sets in their entirety!! When I sat down to create a card with the new set, Wishful Elegance, I was immediately reminded of a sunflower, hence the color combo! The layout I chose is from this week's Sketch For You To Try from Jen del Muro. I layered two of the flowers from the set and added a little chocolate sugar coating glitter to the flower centers to give them some zing. I am always in need of a birthday card so I chose the Birthday Wishes sentiment, but this set is also perfect for anniversaries or weddings! All of the cardstock, designer paper and ribbon is from Papertrey Ink.

And last but not least, welcome our fabulous guest diva Teresa Kline:

Well, I guess you could say this is my favorite Verve release. Not only are the stamps wonderful but, to be designing along side some fabulous talent is a dream come true.
My card base is blush blossom used with SEI Sweet Pea DP. I accented with black, sewing around the bottom panel and tied it with black twill ribbon. The flower blooms are from the new set Wishful Elegance, I luv the way they pop. I colored them with copics R02, YR02, and YR07. I then added glittery blush colored brads to the center. I cut them out and popped them up with glue dots. The stems of the flowers are from an older Verve set called Thankful Blossoms. For me the Wishful Elegance set will be one to remember!

We hope you've enjoyed the sneak peeks of Wishful Elegance! One lucky winner will receive a free Wishful Elegance set...will it be you? All you have to do is leave a comment with your answer to the following question before 8PM Eastern on Friday, April 17, and we'll draw a winner and post it before the release!

Question: What is your favorite wildflower?

Be sure and check back tomorrow for previews of the final set of the month! In the meantime, if you'd like to win some new Verve Stamps, check out the challenges that Julee is having for release week HERE!
