August Diva Dare-Day 2

Pile On the Sweetness, August Diva Dare

Good morning Verve fans, it is Teresa and I am sharing my take on this months Diva Dare; Pile On The Sweetness! What is not sweet about Verve flower stamps? I did kick it up a notch and added the flowers to honor Andrea and added a "sweet" sentiment to honor Christyne! Both divas are amazing and it was a pleasure to show tribute to their styles!

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!

Here is how I answered the dare:

I have used today's Mojo Monday Sketch and I must say it was perfect for layering; and layering I did...fun! I even added the lace trim and seam binding layers to the sketch. I layer stamped the flowers too, you can never have to many layers...tehehehehe. I used the stamp sets Bloom and Grow and Sweet Valentine. I have used these A Cut Above Verve Dies; Charming Ovals, Elegant Leaves, and Floral Circles. I had a blast with this months Diva Dare, I sure hope you join us and I cannot wait to see how you answer the dare!

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, August 28th.  Entries must be new (posted 8/9 or later), include at least one Verve product, include multiple layers, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 8/28/13.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!

Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Pile on the Sweetness" Dare and link up your card (created August 9th or later) to the linky widget below to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

April Diva Dare 2012 ~ Day 4

Greetings everyone!!  It's my turn to double dog dare you with my take on this month's Diva Dare...

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - All Aboard!   It has been Grand Central Station around here lately, Julee gave birth to two beautiful baby boys and has had her hands full!  So I am challenging you to use chipboard, corrugated cardboard, or kraft on your creation or project!  We can't wait to see how you answer the dare!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!
I was thinking of my favourite new parents, Julee and Mark, while creating my cards :)
Seems like I'm not the only one "addicted" to the new Ribbon Banner Die :)  I want to use it on all my projects...and today I have!  I die cut the banner out of a chipboard coaster and stamped the coordinating frame from Super Dad with Old Olive ink.  Then I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx ink.  The sweet little Father's Day sentiment is from the new Purely Sentimental set. But before we celebrate Father's Day, we will have  Mother's Day so here's another banner card (see, told you I was addicted!)...
I cut out some more Ribbon Banners with chipboard coasters but covered them with patterned paper this time.  I also die cut some smaller banners to hang on top of the larger ones.  I created the kraft flower with the medium bloom image from Joyful Blooms by stamping it twice, cutting out both images and popping up the middle with a foam dot.  The sentiment from the same Joyful Blooms set fits perfectly onto the Charming Oval Die set :) Love that!

Holiday Diva Dare ~ Day 9

Welcome to the Holiday Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here and I'm so glad you've stopped in for a visit! A quick rundown of the deets and then we'll get to the good stuff...

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is A Handmade Christmas! The theme is pretty broad and can be interpreted in so many different ways...from a lovingly made card, to heartfelt gifts and homemade decorations!  With the Holidays right around the corner, this will be the perfect time to get a jump start on your card and gift making!

So, we DARE you to make a Handmade Christmas card or gift!

I answered the dare with this sweet, vintage envelope...suitable for gift cards, holiday cards or any kind of sweet treat:

A little peek of the inside:

I used Verve's Charming Oval die for my Santa's Helper sentiment on the front and the inside stamp is from the new Bright Spirits set. The finished envelope measures 4" X 5 1/2". I took a piece of Vintage Cream card stock, cut it down to 5 1/2" X 11" and then scored at the 4" mark, twice, starting at one end. The envelope lid ended up being 3".  I wanted it to be a bit smaller because I wanted to fancy it up with a Martha Stewart French Scroll punch. To do that, I measured exactly the middle of the edge of the flap and marked it with a pencil. I then aligned my corner punch and cut. I then laid the card stock diagonally on my cutting board and cut from that first punch towards the closest score line. Next, I aligned my border punch and punched away! There are lots of perimeter pearls, sewn and distressed edges.

Holiday Diva Dare - Day 5

Monday Greetings everyone!!  I hope you had a wonderful SUPER LONG Thanksgiving Day weekend.  This Canadian Diva is always a little jealous of the way you celebrate Thanksgiving right!  Now onto Day 5 of the Holiday Diva Dare!  For those of you who are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.

Oops!! Did you hear Christmas?  I'm working a little backwards...so stay with me!  Today just happens to be my son's 23rd birthday (AND btw Diva Andrea's!! Happy B-Day sistah!).  I wanted to make him a birthday card that would house a Starbucks card and a "little" cheque from Mom :)  I used a Small Phrases sentiment to let Jake know, once again, how deeply loved he is by his Mama.

Here is the inside of the gift card holder, using 2 stamps from Birthday Bash along with the leaves from Bloom and Grow.

Okay, here's where the "Christmas" comes in.  It's a busy time of year and I wanted to show you how you can save time (and hair pulling) by using a card layout you've used or seen before and just change it for the present occasion.  With full time work, the pending move to the new house, Jake's birthday AND Christmas, this Diva is more than willing to save a bit of time by reusing a card design...here's the Christmas version...

I just changed the papers, dies and sentiment and voila!  Christmas Gift Card card done!  Here's a peek inside...

I had a fun time mixing last year's stamp sets (Glad Tidings, Frosty Flakes, Christmas in the Air) on the outside with the latest stamp set, Bright Spirits, on the inside....they all work together so well! Here's a last photo with both cards so you can see how similar and different they are...

Thanks so much for sharing a special day with me...now onto the details of the DARE!

August Diva Dare - Day 4

Good morning, it's Amy here today with the fourth installment of our August Diva Dare! For those of you who are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is Sending Some Sunshine: we DARE you to make an uplifting and encouraging card AND send it to someone in need of a little pick-me-up! There's nothing like opening your mailbox and seeing a handmade card...especially with some of Verve's encouraging sentiments on it!  :-)

I answered the dare with a bold creation for a dear friend of mine who is going through a really rough stretch right now. For month's she's been saying she can't handle one more thing and then not one, but two or three more things end up in her lap. I see her in person regularly, so I think she'll be extra surprised and pleased to find this in her mailbox. I used flower images and a sentiment from Sunny Days, a fabulous set for pick-me-up cards! I also used Verve's Curvy Bookplate and Charming Oval dies. The layout is last week's Mojo205 sketch.

July 2011 Diva Dare - Day 2

TGIM! Oh wait...something's off about that acronym. Oh yeah, it's Monday so it makes no sense, haha! Well, nothing will make your Monday happy and cheery like jumping into your stamp room and cranking out a card for our newest Diva Dare!

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Sentimental About Paper!  It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)!  Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project!  Paired with the pretty patterned paper (Peter Piper picked a pack of pretty patterned paper LOL!), Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage!  While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

I decided to go with straight cardstock and stamps for my card today! All you REALLY need is a versatile stamp set and some cardstock to create beautiful, heart-felt cards. I pulled out the newly released "Small Phrases". This set really has a sentiment for anything you can imagine, you definitely NEED it in your stamp room;) I decided to pull out my Stampin' Up! butterfly dies for my Big Shot and then stamped and embossed a text stamp from "Text Objects." I layered another butterfly on top, cut some butterflies from tulle, and then stuck little pearls on the butterflies. The sentiment was stamped on labels cut using the "Charming Oval" dies.

How you interpret the challenge is up to you! Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

This is how I answered the dare...
Here are some close-ups of each individual egg:

Hi Verve fans, it's Andrea here! Egg decorating is a big event at my house each year. Grandparents, parents, kids all gather around to see how they can beautify those little round, white canvases. This year I've added my own Verve twist to decorating by using Verve's new Egg-stra Special set paired with the new Charming Oval dies to make some elegant eggs. After the dyeing process, I cut some origami paper with a border punch and adhered it to the egg. To the top, I added a paper flower and a pearl middle. The sentiments were done using the Charming Oval die to which I also lightly distressed the edges with some sponging. I then simply attached it to the paper border. This project was so incredibly easy, in fact, dyeing the eggs took me the longest! Sooo...look out kids...no more white crayon for me!

This is how I answered the dare...

When I think of Spring I think of little baby peeps.  I used to LOVE when we would have an incubator in our grade school classroom with eggs in it.  I loved checking on the eggs every day to see how much bigger that "black dot" inside had gotten.  :)  And eventually seeing that first peck through the shell.  Those little peeps were so adorable!  So, I thought I'd make a little placard featuring MY little peeps.  :)

I used part of the sentiment from Chicks Rule, leaving off the "to one of" so that I was just left with "My Favorite Peeps".  I stamped it and then die cut using the Charming Oval Die Set.  For the names, I simply typed the names in a Word Document and printed them out, then die cut them using the Charming Banner Die Set.  I colored my peeps using Copic markers and added some bling to the name plates.

This is how I answered the dare...

Hello Verve fans, it is Teresa and I answered the dare by creating an Egg-Stra Special Flower Pot.  This is little flower pot reminds me of spring, I adore my pots of flowers and hanging baskets.  It may be several more weeks for us, yesterday we had a skip of snow....sigh.  I started with a small paper mache pot and painted it with cream colored acyclic paint, keeping it kinda of messy.  I used the Egg-Stra Special set for my flowers, yes...you read it correct...the eggs from that set are the blooms for my flowers....so cute!  The Charming Oval Die is used to cut the egg shape.  I covered them with my favorite glass glitter and a button tied with twine.

The butterfly is from the Chicks Rule set and is cut out using the Flutterby Die.  I completed the butterfly with a diamond shaped gemstone.  The tiny heart are stamped and cut out of the Egg-Stra Special set too.  I used small wooden dowels for the flower stems and florist wire for the butterfly and hearts.  I finished the flower pot by tying crinkled ribbon and Prima lace to the pot, so, so sweeet!   I have this sitting in my kitchen window ledge, it is my little "Color Me Spring."  I cannot wait to see what you create!

March Diva Dare - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the March Diva Dare!! Here's how our Diva Dare works... following each release, we post a theme we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This is how I answered the dare...

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Not too hot, and color everywhere!! When I think spring, I think of flowers, birds, butterflies, and new life. So, I made a wedding card (new life together) with flowers and butterflies. And since I was thinking about all things new, I thought I'd try a new technique. Now, I've made easel cards before, but never a Circle Easel. So this was fun!

I'm a die and punch-a-holic, so while designing this card, I knew I was going to use the new A Cut Above dies. Julee thinks of everything when she designs. I LOVE how each die in the Charming Oval and Charming Banner dies works with each other. I have a perfect mat around each shape (no more cutting...ye-haw!!), and the banners fit perfectly inside the ovals. How sweet is that!!! Then there's the sweeeeeeeet Flutterby die!! Love the two sizes of these butterflies too. You can find the large one in the Chicks Rule set, and the smaller one in the Egg-stra Special set. I added a bit of Stardust Stickles to the centers to make these flying beauties pop. And, since I wanted to make this a wedding card I combined images and dies from the newest release with sentiments from a previous release called Love Story. Julee's designs work that way...mixing and matching is not only a breeze, but oh so fun!!

Here's a close up of the smaller Charming Banner Die paired with the Charming Oval Dies, along with the sweet Flutterby image that I cut with the Flutterby die.

And here's a close up of the Charming Oval dies that I included on the inside of the card.

March Diva Dare - Day 2

Welcome to Day TWO of the March Diva Dare!  Here's how our Diva Dare works... following each release, we post a theme we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Color Me Spring!  Whether you are shoveling snow off of your sidewalks and only dreaming of warmer weather or you are already enjoying the first blooms of the season, this challenge is sure to put a spring in your step! How you interpret the challenge is up to you!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

This is how I answered the dare...

When I think of spring.... one of the things that I think about is our wee little daughter and her birthday next week! She born on Easter (a week after her duedate!) and when she was born, all the nurses at the hospital gave her little bunnies and baby chick stuffed animals - so sweet! So for my  Color Me Spring, I decided to make a little birthday present for my little chickie :) I made a card and a coordinating footstool/bench that I painted and then covered with modpodge to protect it and then covered it with a light glaze.  I painted it in her favorite color: purple! Here is a picture of the little giftset that I made for my chickie princess:

I painted a white footstool with purple and then covered it with the papers from the EP Springtime collection. For the footstool, I created a little layout using Charley from the Chicks Rule collection, as well as her friends from the To The Moon stamp set (adding a bright pink bow to their head :)

On the sides of the little bench - I stamped the sentiment: "Chicks Rule" from the Chicks Rule stamp set and added hearts from the Love Notes stamp set.

Here is a picture of the top of the little bench:  I cut out the larger shape using the Grand Calibur and then added a scalloped edging on the sides. I love this sentiment - because it is so true - my little 3 year old is totally one of the coolest chicks I know! I stamped little Charley and her friends and paper pieced them using the DP and then added a pink bow to each of them from the Chicks Rule Stamp set.

Here is the birthday card for me little princess :) One of my favorite things that my daughter does every morning when I leave to go to work, is open the window and she watches me walk to the car and when I open the car door - she always yells out "I love you" and I say "I love you too!" and then we both wave to each other - its one of my favorite parts of our morning routine - so I thought that I would make little Chole wave from out the window. I created a little cut out shape and then added shutters and added a little window basket by cutting out half of  the basket from the Chicks Rule stamp set. I added the happy birthday sentiment from the Birthday Bash stamp set into the newly released Charming Oval die set from A Cut Above dies from Verve stamps:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Springtime collection from EP and purple prism papers
Stamps: Chicks RuleLove Notes (for the little trio of pink hearts), To the Moon (for the little monkey, bear and elephant) , Birthday Bash (for the sentiment)
Inks: Memento Tuxedo black, Grape Jelly, RoseRed
Accessories: liquid pearls, pink ribbon from stash, Spellbinders, bling, copics, sponger, dimensionals, scorpal, star hatpin, stickles (Diamond), Martha Stewart heart punch, footstool from Michaels, copics and bling.

I love spring and I love being able to leave the snowsuits at home and go for a walk with my kids! I am excited to decorate the house in pink and purple for our daughter's springtime birthday and even more excited to give her this Chicks Rule giftset :) Hope you will play along with the Diva Dare challenge and share with us your Color Me Spring creation!
