Shrinkin' It Up ATC Style

Oh! It's been so much fun seeing all the Verve Diva's shrink their "thang" down to 2.5"x3.5"!!!! I knew they could all rock the 4.5x5.25 sized cards like nobody's business, but who'd of thought they could do the same thing with something sooooooo small?

I have to be honest, I've done exactly 3 of these little guys in my short lifetime, this one being the 3rd! I've had an aversion to them because they're as much work as a standard sized card! I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that just the thought of making inchies give me hives! But shhhhhh, I better watch what I say, cuz now that I've said the word inchies, Shannan is FOR SURE gonna make them our next challenge!!!! Hopefully she's too busy to be reading my post today....a girl can only hope, can't she...????.

Awwww, I'm just kiddin' with ya, I had lots of fun making my ATC for you today. It was really a simple layout using the flower from the Verve Feeling Groovy set, a sentiment from Seeing Stars, and the square underneath the flower is from Asian Flair. I stamped the flower twice, once with brown ink, and once with Tangerine Tango (my favorite new In Color by SU). I sponged around the edges of both flowers with Tangerine Tango (see, I told you I love it). I mounted one flower on top of the other, and then mounted the double flower on top of the square from Asian Flair. A simple straight stitch around the card finished it off.

Want to see what I did with my ATC after I was done with it? I added it to the front of an empty journal! The background paper was made using the flower from Feeling Groovy. I loved how it turned out!

Well, now that you've seen another Verve Diva rock an ATC, so it's time for you to do the same. Check out this post for more details on what you have to do to win $15 in Verve bucks. The contest is open until noon (Eastern time) on July 31st, so there's still time for you to shrink your "thang" ATC style!

ATC - Verve Style!

As I was thinking about how to hide the fact that I'm a total ATC newbie (this is only my second one I've ever made), I saw that Charmaine was new at this as well! After seeing her beautiful card, I was definitely encouraged and inspired...maybe I could do this after all!

There really isn't a lot of room to work with...so I decided to choose a sentiment to be the focal piece (after all...Verve has the BEST sentiments!!). I embossed the "Untie the Ribbons" quote (from the Asian Flair set) in copper onto Shimmery White c.s. This patterned paper by S.E.I....that I had in my stash and was totally hoarding...seemed like a perfect match! A few rhinestones, a fun corner treatment (I embossed one of the circle images from the Asian Flair set in copper and put it on top of a punched out photo corner), and of course....some ribbon were the perfect embellishments! :-)

Whether you are an ATC pro, or a newbie like me...I sure hope you get a chance play along! (Psssst! There are PRIZES - you can read all about them HERE!!!)

Introducing Asian Flair and Your Chance to Win

Here at Verve, we're starting another round of previews leading up to our June 25th release day. I am so excited to introduce to you Asian Flair. This set of 13 sentiments, graphics and images is so stylish and sophisticated. You're going to love it! After checking out these samples, read on to see how you could be the lucky winner of this set.

From Susan:
Hey everyone! I am so loving the new Asian Flair stamp set! It's very versatile and comes with a fabulous array of images, some of which can be used multiple ways (not just Asian). I chose to use the little leaves and create a "forest" of bamboo. I simply drew sweeping lines with a couple different colors of Copic markers for a little depth across the white panel and added the little "joint" lines with a Prismacolor marker. I then stamped the leaf image in various shades of green to make the bamboo. I also decided I wanted to try out the Cracked Glass technique having NEVER done it before (you see, I'm not much of a technique person--I just make a big mess), and after a small snag of accidentally rubbing my bounce sheet all over the image (normally done in regular embossing when you don't want the extra powder to stick. In this case you want ALL the powder to stick!--oopsie!), I finally got it to work! I added the simple hemp cording and sentiment on white for some pop with a little round Asian accent and some gold brads. Now all that's missing is Kung Fu Panda!!

From Laurie:
Just when I thought I had a favorite Verve set...Julee comes up with something even better! I love this Asian Flair set! It has such unique design elements...all done with Verve style! And, of course there are the incredible sentiments/quotes that have become such a Verve trademark!

I created a tall card (3 1/8" x 6 1/2") with the emphasis on the quote by Thoreau. I popped up the butterflies for a little added dimension. I didn't have the right color of ribbon, so I dyed some Ivory taffeta ribbon with my Olive Copic marker.

Recipe
Stamps: Asian Flair Paper: Pearlized Ivory c.s., Night of Navy c.s. (Stampin' Up!), Blue Awning patterned paper (K & Co) Ink: Night of Navy craft ink, Old Olive (Stampin' Up!), Antique Linen Distress Ink Accessories: Clear detail e.p., Tag dies (Spellbinders), Ivory taffeta ribbon, Olive Copic marker, Hemp, Decorative brad, Paper piercer

From Bethany:
I went with a clean, bold style for this Asian Flair design. It's just what comes to mind for me. I guess you could call this an overlapping gate fold style. One front panel is slightly larger so the opening is off-center.

Stamps: Asian Flair (Verve Visual)Paper: basic black, whisper white, real red (Stampin' Up!)Ink: basic black, real red (SU!)Accessories: clear bubble (JoAnn Scrap Essentials); black (SU!); Swiss dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug); circle dies (Nestabilities)

From Natasha:
Here’s a card from Natasha Trupp…we liked her creations so much last month that we asked her to stay on as our guest for another release. Stay tuned to see who our other guests are!
