What we're daring you to do this month is to create a gift tag, use a tag on a card, or be inspired by a tag!  

 

 Hi everyone!  Maureen here bringing you Day 4 of this month's Diva Dare!  Creating with tags always makes me giggle with excitement.  I think because it's a small canvas that can be used on a gift or on a pretty card. 

 

 

I needed some more birthday cards in my stash so I looked no further than the Poppy Birthday set and Build a Poppy die collection released last month.  I love the way Julee creates new sentiments that fit perfectly onto the older dies.  I've used several layers on my tag, ending with the Classy Label die and matching stamp from Love Notes.  Those lined poppy flowers look great in any colour.  I picked soft pink out from my patterned paper along with some pink chevron ribbon and some pink gems.  The last touch was to add some of this gorgeous new gold seam binding ribbon from the Autumn Elements collection.

August Diva Dare - Day 7

Hi Verve fans!  Laurie S. here, and it's my turn to share with you how I answered this month's Diva Dare!

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.   

If you want to kick this month's dare up a notch, you can add a flower cluster as per Diva Andrea, or go with a "sweet" theme as per Diva Christyne's blog name "Stamping with Sugar".  These are not required elements, but fun options should you wish to use them.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!  

Here's what I came up with...

Those of you that know me, already know that this challenge is right up my alley!  :-)  Lots of layers and embellishments...sign me up, please!  Both Andrea and Christyne are Divas that I admire and it was SO much fun paying tribute to them this month!

Even though I didn't use a flower cluster (even I couldn't fit any more embellishments on this card LOL!), I did go with a "sweet" theme!  Nothing is sweeter in my mind that a great cup of Java!  Mmmmm!  ;-)

The coffee cup and sentiment are from Better With You set.  The cute tag was created using the Sweet Scallop Tag Die and the seam binding is from the Truly Madly Deeply Seam Binding Collection!  (I adore the colors Julee has put together in her seam binding collections...absolutely LOVE them!)

July Diva Dare - Day 4

Tattered Pages, July Diva Dare

Hello Verve fans!! It's Amber bringing you Day 4 of this month's Diva Dare entitled "Tattered Pages".

This month's dare pays tribute to Julee (Poetic Artistry), owner and creator of Verve Stamps and Diva Teresa (Paperie Blooms).  Julee has created countless, uplifting sentiments which have become one of Verve's trademarks, and Teresa knows how to rock distressing and "shabbiness" on her cards.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using an uplifting sentiment and some distressing and/or shabby element to it.  Kind of like an encouraging card you have received which you have read so many times the edges are a bit tattered.  Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!

I always love Teresa's fun multi-loop bows on her cards so I had to make sure to throw one of those on my card:) I used the gorgeous seam binding we now offer, from the Spring Fling collection.

The sentiment is one of my favorite for Thank You cards and is from Words Cannot Express.

I added some sewing, doilies, buttons, and rhinestones to finish off my "tattered" look. 

I hope you can play along with us this month, this was a really fun challenge!!

June Diva Dare ~ Day 5

Puddles of Colour, June Diva Dare

Hello Verve fans!!  Maureen here starting a fabulous new week of inspiration for this month's Diva Dare.
 

 This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Jen (Deconstructing Jen) and Diva Janelle (Rain Puddles Design) both have an amazing eye for colour. Jen's colouring is phenomenal and Janelle's showcases mixed media like no other. So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using colouring and/or painting.  If you want to kick the dare up a notch, you can add kraft card stock to the mix (Jen's specialty) and/or make a mixed media card (Janelle's specialty).  Here is the link to Splitcoast Stamper's "Mix-Ability" Forum for some tutorials and ideas on Mixed Media should you want to try it out.  This is not a requirement but a fun "extra" should you wish to add it to your card. Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!

Today's card is for a retiring teacher at our school.  My school's P.A.C. (Parent Advisory Council) approached me last week to make 2 commissioned cards for retiring staff members.  I knew that the Teachers Count set would be perfect for our Grade 7 teacher, finishing a career full of dedication, enthusiasm, caring and love.   Answering this month's Diva Dare was a thrill!  Jen's use of kraft with colour is always yummy!  So that's where I started with the base of my card along with some My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday paper.  Then I chose some alphabet paper with gorgeous colours.  THEN it was play time channelling Janelle with making the little faux chalkboard using The Occasion Frame die and coordinating frame image from On Occasion.  I embossed the frame and sentiment with white embossing powder, then smudged some white craft ink over everything to give it a chalky look.  Then I took a white pencil crayon and added some light colouring details.  I tucked 2 golden delicious apples under the frame using the Apples Die set, tied some lovely Signature Collection seam binding ribbon with a scrap of pink ribbon around the card and let all those twine and thread ends run wild! LOL  Now it's YOUR turn...

March Diva Dare - Day 2

Hello Verve Fans!  It's Charmaine and I am excited to be bringing you Day 2 of this month's Diva Dare, "Just Give Me Stamps, Buttons and Bling"!!  This month, "we dare" you to create a card combining Diva Laurie (Just Give Me Stamps) and Diva Maureen's (Buttons and Bling) styles.  For insight into their styles and inspiration galore, you can find Diva Laurie's Verve creations here and Diva Maureen's Verve creations here.

When I was creating my card, one thing that made me think of Laurie (besides lots of layers) is how she embosses a line art image in white on patterned paper.  I love it when she does that!  :)  The image always looks great and there's no need to color!  I did that on my card with the flower image from Surely Goodness.  When I think of Maureen, I think of these big fluffy bows and the bling!!  I used some of the Truly, Madly, Deeply Seam Binding for my bow.
 

The papers are from the For the Record 2 Tailored Collection from Echo Park.  I also used the Flag It Die Set for the little red tab and the sentiment tab.  The flower pieces were die cut using the Goodness Flowers Die Set.
