Spotlight on Kristina Biederman

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm excited to shine our little Verve spotlight on our September Guest Diva, Kristina Biederman!

Kristina (woodwinds on SCS) has been catching my eye for quite some time as a participant in our Verve challenges. Her designs are always polished, crisp and well-balanced with a great eye for color. You can see a few of her past challenge cards that made me take a second look {here}, {here} and {here}. See what I mean? Gorgeous stuff, so I just had to ask her to play along with the Divas this month.

Before I get to Kristina's VERVE-i-view, I'll start things off with this beautiful card using the new Harvest Blessings and the striped background from Bountiful Backgrounds. I just love her gorgeously elegant take on this set. And the monochromatic green color scheme just make me sigh.

When/how did you get hooked on stamping? I’ve been a scrapbooker since my early teens, and have loved creating such visual projects that can tell so much more about my adventures. About four years ago, some of my co-workers at the school I taught at started talking in the staff room about “stamp camp.” After a year and a few months of chatting and begging me to come, I finally gave in. Needless to say, I was hooked. I started buying some stamps about one year later, and have been stamping and creating ever since.

How often do you stamp? Now that school has started back up, I really only have the chance to stamp every few days and usually in the evenings and on weekends. During the summer, it’s definitely an everyday event! It’s become so routine that when my roommate gets home, she’ll walk in the door and call out, “Are you making a card?” I always reply sarcastically, “Maybe.”

What's your favorite embellishment or finishing detail? I am thoroughly addicted to ribbon and buttons, and especially putting them together. I literally search for opportunities to sneak them onto my cards.

Okay, time for a little eye candy intermission. I love this star-tastic card Kristina made with You Rock, especially the embossed stars in the background. The color combo is fresh and unusual, but absolutely perfect for this starry beauty.

How long does it take you to create a project that you're happy with? Oh goodness. Too long. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my cards. A normal card will take me one to two hours. I tend to fiddle with my cards a lot while working on them. They really are the epitome of “a work in progress.”

Tell me about your creative space. It’s pretty pathetic at the moment. I only have one desk to house my computer, printer, lamp, and card-making space. I create all my cards in a little foot and one half space in front of my keyboard! I’m pretty crazy about organization, so everything does get cleaned up after every card I make. With a workspace so small, if I just let it sit there and accumulate, I would go crazy!

What is your usual starting point for a project? I almost always start with a sketch or a card that I am CASE-ing. I totally lack creativity in creating my own layouts and the few I’ve tried on my own have been too horrible to share! Sketches save me so much time. When I see them, it’s like I can instantly see what stamp I want to use. After grabbing the stamp, it’s a quick stop by the paper to pick some colors.

Time for one last card from Kristina. This one uses the new Happiness Found set and I just love the colors she used here - they really speak happiness, and the clean and simple style really lets the stamps take center stage.

What is your biggest source of inspiration? Definitely blogs. I love going through my little daily tour of blogs and being in awe of the amazing creations out there. There are so many incredible women out there that keep driving me to stretch myself, try new things, and create.

Who in the crafting world do you most admire and why? Wow. What a tough question. To really, really narrow it down definitely Nichole Heady. I love her incredible elegant style. I don’t think she’s ever made a card that didn’t make me smile. Also, Dawn McVey for her clean-lined simplicity and amazing color combinations. And of course, Julee for her incredible colors and layers… I love cruising by her blog every few days to see what treats she has to share with us all.

What is your favorite set from this release? Do I have to choose just one? I like them all for different reasons! I really love the leaves in Harvest Blessings… There’s even a polka dot one! I also love Wishing You. I love sentiments, and using them as main focal images… so this set is definitely going to get a lot of love!

I hope you've enjoyed learning a little more about this fabulous stamper as much as I have! To see the rest of the projects Kristina made for our release, you can check out her Guest Diva album in our gallery, or visit her blog, Itty Bitty Pieces of Me, for her newest creations. I just loved all of her beautiful creations for our release and she was such a joy to work with. Be sure to give her a little shout out for all her hard work!

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time, stamp happy!

"Good Morning Everyone, Sankari here :) Haven't you just been loving all the sneak peeks so far!!!! I am SO excited about this release and am completely amazed how Julee outdoes herself every single release! As soon as I saw this stamp set - I couldn't wait to get my fingers inky!!! I absolutely love these beautiful leaves that Julee has designed for this stamp set. They are so cool and and fun and simply beautiful and whimsy all in one! I knew right away that I wanted to create a wreath when I saw these beautiful leaves - so a wreath making I went! I made this wreath out of a small paper plate and my handy dandy glue gun :) I stamped each of the leaves in the stamp set in 4-5 different ink colors and stamped them again and again and then proceeded to cut them out and then assemble them. This wreath was so much fun to make (I have a little tutorial on my blog on how to make one) and the best part is that it is hanging on our door to welcome us home each day :) Wishing you all lots of Harvest Blessings and Autumnal Wishes!!!
Hugs to all,
Sankari :)

I love fall! Better yet, I love fall décor, crafts and STAMPS! Julee has come up with the perfect fall stamp set with this one—Harvest Blessings. It’s got a great mix of leaves and sentiments and also includes this wonderful fall wreath. For this card, I’ve combined a few of the Release Week challenges that some of the Divas have come up with in the Verve forum. I stamped the wreath in two different colors to make it even more “full” looking. Then I wanted to give it a little more shimmer, so I painted the entire bottom half with a thin coat of Spiced Cider Shimmerz which really gives it some dimension and mutes the look of the paper (in a good way!). The purple maple leaf is sparkly as well from my purple Stickles glitter glue. I spread it around with a blending stump and that worked really well (that’s a Susie Q-tip!). Happy Fall, ya’ll!!

"Hello everyone, it is Teresa here and I am thrilled to bring you my take on the Harvest Blessings set. Haven't the sneak peaks been fabulous from the other divas and well, Julee has brought to you once again some gorgeous Verve styled sets. I used Prsim card stock and Recollections Autumn dp for this card. I did a little distressing and sewing, this set is perfect for that extra touch. I ran a piece of the card stock through the Cuttlebug using the pumpkin embossing folder and sponging it with a little Tim Holtz Ranger vintage photo ink. I added SU ribbon tied with a button and twine. I also stamped one of the fabulous leaves and cut it out and popped it up for a added little something. I hope you will be at the release party tonight, you won't want to miss all the new Verve stamps. See ya there!"

"NO WAY!!!" Those were the exact words out of my mouth when I saw these two sets!! I have a love affair with all things Autumn, so I could not wait to ink up these gorgeous new sets from Verve!! The combination of breathtaking Fall images and Julee's A*MAZING sentiments...well, I still swoon when I see them!!
I kept my card design simple as I wanted the Sol Gordon quote to take center stage! The background is some natural muslin that I stamped directly on using Versamagic Dew Drops (any chalk type of ink will work great). I continued the "homespun" feel by whimsically stitching around the muslin, adding some twill, and of course I had to throw in a few buttons! :-)

Sneak Preview: Starstruck and You Rock

Welcome to Day 2 of our Sneak Previews! Today we’re featuring cards made with Starstruck and You Rock. These two sets offer an updated approach to a theme we just love here at Verve – stardom! They’ll be available for purchase immediately following our Release Party this Friday night, so you don’t have long to wait! And be sure to read all the way to the end of this post to find out how you can have a chance at winning these sets for your very own!

Designed by Julee Tilman

Since we first released Starlight Starbright & Wonderful Wishes in October 2007, I've had many requests to have some of these sentiments available in a bigger size. As my styles and tastes as an artist have changed over the past two years, I thought it would be good to revisit these two sets with a fresh perspective and Starstruck and Wishing You (which was peeked yesterday) are the result. I'm so excited about the possiblities of mixing and matching these sets with some of our older star sets for a whole new look. My card uses a flourishy star image, a smaller star, and a fabulous new sentiment from the Starstruck set.

Designed by Amber Hight

Hey everyone, Amber here with a peek at Starstruck! When I first saw this *amazing* stamp set, I had all kinds of ideas for it, especially to create my own patterned paper with this awesome swirly star! I stamped it several times on a piece of cardstock and then used the medium-sized star to stamp in the middle of the large swirly star. I outlined the swirls with Gold Ice Stickles and then to finish off the fancy pattern I added some red pearls by Kaiser Krafts. I hated to cut this piece of paper up because it's just so dang pretty, but I like it on my card too;) I stamped the sentiment, inked all the edges, and then added a strip of cardstock cut with my Apron Lace edge punch (by Fiskars). The ribbon, button, and jute were added before I adhered the sentiment panel but I felt like the card still needed something....hmmm...what to do?! I decided to add a couple jute stitches along three sides of the card and it was complete!

Designed by Jen del Muro

"You Rock." That's what I want to tell Julee each month when I get my DT package. Always filled with A-MAA-ZING stamp designs that are fun to work with. This month is no exception. It's an eclectic mix of fun, funky and elegant...quite the combo, right? The set that has my heart all a flutter this month is You Rock. It's a small set, but so much fun! When I sat down to make the card, I wanted to something that would really "POP." So I decided to combo black and white with a pop of pink and some bling-bling to make this a card appropriate for any true rockstar!

Designed by Amy Sheffer

Warning, Verve fans: You Rock may be a small set, but the two stamps in it are likely to capture your heart in a big way! I never would have thought to put stars and fleurs-de-lis together, but just look at this star image with the fleur-de-lis pattern in it. Isn't it GORGEOUS?! What an enchanting fusion of geometric on the one hand and frilly elegance on the other! And then there's Starstruck, with even more star images and uplifting sentiments you will melt over. For my peek, I created a tall, skinny card (3 1/4" x 6 1/2"). The color combo was pulled from the Amy Butler designer paper I used, and the combination of elements - the polka dots, dry embossed swirl pattern, scallops, dp, and bling - hopefully have captured the fun, modern, yet super classy look and feel of these wonderful new Verve sets. Can't wait until Friday!

Like what you’ve seen so far? Just leave a comment here on this post before 6 PM Eastern on Friday, September 18 and you’ll be put in a drawing to win these two sets! Winners will be announced at our release party that night.

And for even more chances to win, be sure to check out the Release Week challenges going on in the Verve Forum for your chance to win our entire release! Okay, that’s it for today, we’ll see you back here tomorrow for another peek at some more new sets!

Sneak Peek - Day 1: Swan Song and Wishing You

Hi there! Jen Tapler here with the first day of Sneak Peeks of another FANTABULOUS Verve New Release!! Today the Divas and I are sharing a few projects using the new sets Swan Song and Wishing You. They’ll be available for purchase immediately following our Release Party this Friday night, so you don’t have long to wait! And be sure to read all the way to the end of this post to find out how you can have a chance at winning these sets for your very own!

First up is this beautiful card by Diva Tosha Leyendekker. Julee never ceases to amaze me with each new release!! And this time she included one of my all time favorite images: swans. My heart went all aflutter when I saw the set Swan Song. I'm so excited to be able to work with this new release. For this card, I stamped the swan and sentiment with Smokey Gray (Versafine) and paper toled the swan with 6 layers. I created the sentiment medallion with the Lattice Pendant, Labels 3 and Circle Nestabilities, and added some sparkle to each piece with some glitter. Finally, I topped it all off with some sewing, pearls, and a large Ivory bow.

From Diva Mercy Kerin:
I am so stoked to be writing my first Sneak Peek post as an official Diva! It still feels like it's all been a wonderful dream! As with all the other Verve releases, I have loved each and every set that has come out...but there is always one that stands out to me a little more than the others. For this month it was Swan Song! As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do...that doesn't happen often, so when it does you know you have to roll with it! LOL! I stamped the swans on watercolor paper in Basic Black Craft Ink, embossed them with clear embossing powder, then colored them with an aquapainter and an ink pad. I added some yellow stickles, black rhinestones, yellow ribbon, and silver cording to finish off the card. I absolutely love the way it turned out, and I know that you will love this set as much as I do!

From Guest Diva Kristina Biederman:
Hello Everyone! I am thrilled beyond words to be a part of this amazing release celebration! I think I almost fell out of my chair when an e-mail from Julee showed up back in July. Then, the stamps arrived and I ran through the house to find my roommate and show her how incredible they are! When I saw there was another sentiment set, Wishing You, I knew I had to get them inky right away. I love sentiment sets and Julee always makes the absolute best with the most gorgeous fonts!

I used Wishing You for my card and kept it pretty simple, keeping the words as the main focus point. I also snuck a little Beautiful Kindness onto my card - I can just see using these sentiments partnered with so many other sets!

Thanks again to Julee and the absolutely incredible Divas for letting me be a part of this wonderful release!!

________________________________________________________

And from me, Jen Tapler:
Once again, Julee has outdone herself with this release! So many gorgeous sets!! Picking a favorite is nearly impossible, but I am a sucker for sentiment sets - and Wishing You is absolutely AWESOME!! I LOVE the idea of combining the "Wishing You" stamp with any one of the other 9 stamps in this set to create so many different sentiments. You could stamp them together as I did here to create a single focal sentiment, or divide them up (and this set is PERFECT for those of you crazies out there who take the time to finish the insides of your cards!!). I kept this little notecard-sized card simple, letting that "Wishing You the Best Day Ever" sentiment (a combination of 2 of the stamps from this set) be the focus. Some small Prima flowers were really all the embellishments this little card needed!

August Project Parade-Day 14

Hey everyone, Teresa here; I cannot believe that I am bringing to you the last day of the Happiness for Hostesses Project Parade, haven't the divas turned out some fabulous hostess gifts? It is a dream come true to be working along side these talented ladies, thank you Julee!
My gift is a tin full of coffee beans and homemade coffee cake. I luv coffee, but enjoy it much more when it is fresh ground, lasting and with longtime friends. I have girlfriends that I have known since the third grade and when we get together there is always coffee involved. We are due a get together, so this is the perfect time to call them up and make a date.
I will save my favorite boxes and tins, this is one that was in my stash. I took Basicgrey Blush dp and distressed and layered it and adhered with tacky tape around the tin. Card stock is Prism Burned and Birchtone Light. I used the Mega Curved rectangle nesties for the image Delightful & Delicious and sentiment on the front of the tin. I used the steamy image from the A Cup Of Life set to make the scrolls down the side. I tied it all with a bow and added a tag with the cup image on it. The cups and the scrolls I went over with a glitter pen, not sure if you can see it in the picture. I used Romans 12:13 verse on the card and a button tied with twine on the bow. I ran the card base through the Cuttlebug using the SU Final Press embossing folder, I luv this texture, it is gorgeous! I also picked up these chocolate envies at Michael's, had to have them. I ran a strip of embossed card stock down the front of it and added a few Kaiser Craft pearls. I sure hope that my project has been an inspiration to you and I hope that you can play along in our Project Parade. Just make a project or card that fits with our Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, we love to see 'em. Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post! Have fun and good luck!

August Project Parade - Day 13

Happy Thursday, everyone! It's Mercy! I have been blown away by the gorgeous and creative projects the Divas have been cranking out these last few days...talk about some wonderful Hostess Happiness! For my project I wanted to focus on one of my true loves...writing. Each month I get together with a few of my "wanna be writer" friends to share poetry and/or short stories that we have written the month before. Here is the Writer's Hostess Gift Ensemble for next month's hostess:
I altered an old writer's journal, and covered it with cardstock. I added a lock for privacy, and decorated the cover using one of my favorite sets Enjoy for the focal image. The sentiment in the lower right corner of the journal is from Express Yourself.
My friend has never been to our county library, so I purchased a library card for the next year just for her. I wanted to put it in something cutesy, so I decided to make a gift card holder. I used the polka dots and sentiment from Bountiful Backgrounds, the flowers from Budding Blossoms, and the butterfly from Enjoy to create this trifold library card holder.
What girl doesn't love a little something sweet while she is in deep concentration?!? LOL! I created an acetate box filled with Werther's Original candies using the sentiment from Delightful & Delicious, and the same butterfly used in the other projects.
The hostess also gets to invite three of her personal friends to the next month's meeting, so I created some 3X3 invitations in the same color scheme using the sentiment from A Cup of Life. I added the same butterfly used in the other projects to the outside of the envelopes.
That's it for me today! I had such an amazing time creating my first official Project Parade projects and post! It still seems like a dream...I can't believe that I am a Diva! LOL! Julee...thanks for such an awesome opportunity!
Do you have a fabulous hostess gift idea? We would love to see it! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12th. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter. So if you like what you see, be sure and give a little shout out in the comments of each post!

A Tea Tray Gift set

Good Morning Everyone!!! Happy 9-9-09!

Today I am so excited to be part of the Verve Project Parade where the theme is Hostess Gifts! A HUGE thank you to Shannan Tuebner for all her help this morning with getting pictures up (you are a life saver and you totally ROCK chica!) For my project today, I decided to use one of my fave sets - I love the Cup of Life Verve stamp set and so created a little Tea Tray full little Tea Goodies. This tray has Tea Leaves in a little tin can ( I love tin cans!), tea cup with strainer for drinking tea at home, a travel mug French press for drinking tea on the go and a set of notecards (I was going to include some cookies - but I ate all of those! lol!) . Here is a picture of the Tea Tray Gift Set:

Photobucket

Here is a picture of the notecard set - it comes with 5 cards that say "Just for You" with a matching envelopes. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch #103 for the card:

I also used a tag punch to create little tags for the French Press, cup and tea tin: It was so fun and easy and most of all made something very simple feel yummy :) Here are some pictures of the tags that I created:

The same tag goes for the cup. And lastly - one of my fave things to do is to take some unfinished wood and paint and stamp on it. After finishing - you just add a clear lacquer (I chose a gloss finish) and it protects the wood. Here is a picture of the tea tray - I painted it goosefeather, burnt umber and azul blue and then used the Bountiful backgounds polkadots, the sentiment from Delightful and Delicious and the teacups from a Cup of Life to create this little tray:

Project Details:
Ink: Adirondack Expresso, Versa Mark, Clear EP, Memento brilliance copper ink
Paper: Prisma cardstock, brown paper from stash
Stamps: Bountiful backgounds polkadots, the sentiment from Delightful and Delicious and the teacups from a Cup of Life
Accessories: unfinished wood tray and clear gloss lacquer, spellbinders, corner rounder, ribbon (offray), button from stash, Kaiser Blue rhinestones, EK success punch, tag punch from CM liquid pearls

A huge thank you to Julee for this amazing honor to be part of Verve! I am still pinching myself!!! I hope you have been enjoying all the lovely projects!!! And not to worry, there are more projects coming in the next days and we would love to see what amazing projects you are creating! To play along just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em, we would love to see 'em!! Just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky in Day One's POST before 9PM Mountain September 12th. Two lucky participants will win a stamp set of their choice from the Verve Store. We've also hidden another $25 gift certificate somewhere along the parade for a random commenter - so if you like what you see, be sure to give a little shout out in the comments of each post!!!

Have a wonderful, delightful and delicious day!

Big hugs!
Sankari :)

August Project Parade: Day 11

Hi everyone, it's Michelle! It's my turn to show you a bit of Verve-y Hostess Happiness! Haven't the Divas rocked it so far?!?

One of my best girlfriends is a HUGE tea drinker. I mean seriously, HUGE tea drinker! She drinks tea like I drink coffee. -LOL! We are all heading over to her house for dinner in a couple weeks, so I thought I would take this opportunity to make her a little hostess gift.

I was shopping at Cost Plus the other day, and found this REALLY cool tea cup. The little spoon keeps in the handle, how cute is that? The project came together pretty quickly after I found this. My card uses the A Cup of Life set and are colored with copic markers. She is NOT a girly girl at all, so I kept the embellies to a minimum, but I did add a couple silver pearls here and there, just couldn't help myself!

When making both the card and tag, I stuck to the colors and clean lines of the cup. She and her family are very "green", so she will appreciate the tea is from a local Portland owned company, STASH.

So....have you decided what fabulous hostess gift you'd like to create? We can't wait to see it!

Have fun and good luck!

August Project Parade - Day 10

Hi everyone, it's Amy here today with Day 10 of our Happiness for Hostesses Project Parade. I've been amazed at all the projects the Divas have shared to far -- so many great ideas!

Every few years, my mother's very large extended family gets together to make applebutter the old-fashioned way, in huge copper kettles over an open fire, using long wooden paddles to stir the apples as they cook. It's a two-day process, and takes about thirty to forty people altogether. The end product is worth the effort, and the family tradition is priceless. Plus we all leave with plenty to share. A jar of "secret family recipe" homemade applebutter is one of my favorite hostess gifts.

For my project, I've taken a plain jar of applebutter and packaged it up all nice and pretty. I first covered a small chipboard box with some pretty Melissa Frances designer paper, then I prettied up the jar itself (details below), and last I added some wide striped ribbon and a maple leaf-shaped tag bearing the Romans 12:13 Plain Jane and a butterfly from Enjoy.

For the tag, I cut a piece of ivory card stock into the leaf shape using one of the new Spellbinders Nested Maple Leaf dies. With the die still in place, I sponged on Ranger Distress ink in various shades of browns (Antique Linen, Tea Dye, and Vintage Photo). I removed the die, then stamped the Romans 12:13 Plain Jane in Ranger Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The butterfly shadow is stamped in Vintage Photo ink, and the butterfly outline image is paper pieced and popped up.

Here's a closer look at the jar top:

I layered classic and scalloped circle Nestabilities for the jar top, then added the stamped "Enjoy" sentiment and two butterflies from the Enjoy set. (The butterflies are done the same way as the one on the leaf tag). Last I added some ivory trim to the band. Before I tied the ribbon on, I used a few dimensional glue dots to secure the jar to the inside of the box so that it won't slip around. I almost don't recognize my plain little canning jar anymore. As they say, presentation is everything!

That's it for me! I hope you can play along in our Project Parade.

August Project Parade ~ Day 9

Hi everyone! It's Jackie here! Don't you love all of the projects the Diva's have showcased so far? I am amazed every month at the creativity!! Well, I decided to do a little something for my Mom's Group. This is my second time focusing on these very important women because they appreciate everything I make them! LOL! We meet twice a month for coffee and while we usually meet at Starbuck's, we have decided to meet at one house so we can be loud and crazy without anyone staring at us!

I thought bringing each of them a darling little bag like this would be perfect. They all love my Butterscotch Chip Cookies and packaging them in batches of two means no one eats too many! (My real motive is to keep as many as I can at home! LOL!)

I used the new Verve set, Delightful and Delicious. What a perfect set for coffee and cookies.....I stacked the three cups from the set in Dark Chocolate Ink from Papertrey and colored them in with Copic Markers. The image was cut out with Oval Nestabilities.

The sentiment is also from Delightful and Delicious. It was stamped in Pure Poppy ink (PTI) and cut out with the Ribbon Tag Trio by Spellbinders. I tied a small red bow with embroidery floss. The bag itself is a My Timeless Template from Papertrey, specifically the Pretty Petal Pocket. I added the cookies to a medium cello bag and tied it with Pure Poppy Twill Ribbon (PTI).

We would love for you to join us this month! To play along, just make a project or card that shows us your take on the Happiness for Hostesses theme. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we love to see 'em! Then just add a link to your creation to the Mr. Linky form in DAY ONE's POST before 8PM Mountain September 12. August Project Parade - Day 8!

Wow! The Verve Divas have really outdone themselves this month! The projects and gift ideas are AMAZING!! Well, it's my turn (Laurie) to share with you what I have created!

I decided to create a gift that could be used by the hostess of a tea party (but you could easily change the sentiment on the card and it could be for a hostess).

I used A Cup of Life and Party Time (for the sentiment) sets paired with some pastel and very girly patterned paper. I whipped up some Lemon Biscotti (dipped in White Chocolate), packaged them in a white glassine bag, and attached a coordinating sticker tag. Biscotti is one of my most favorite things to bake - they are so easy, yet people are always impressed with them! I have a few of my own favorite recipes, but this time I wanted to try a new flavor. I found THIS recipe online and have to say it has been a hit! So much so that when I wasn't looking this morning my kiddos had devoured most of them! Yep, these pictured above would be my SECOND batch! LOL!

For my card, I stamped a "stack" of cups (from A Cup of Life set) using the masking technique, colored them with my Copics, and then added a vellum overlay with the "Time to Party" sentiment (from the Party Time set).

August Project Parade - Day 7

Happy Tuesday! Jen Tapler here with another installment of the Happiness for Hostesses Project Parade. Wowza! The divas are sure outdoing themselves this Project Parade and I know I'll won't be lacking for gift ideas for quite some time!!

For my project, I decided to make a simple little gift to take to my next Book Club get together. I just love this group of girls and we always have such a good time gossiping, eating, drinking lots of wine, and sometimes we even discuss the book! We take turns hosting our informal "meetings" and everyone usually brings a little something to eat. Now, I do NOT cook. Like hardly AT ALL. Nothing. Joel does 99% of the cooking at our house. If Joel has to work late and (oh No!) I have to be responsible for dinner, it almost always is Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. No lie. (fortunately Joel likes to cook and is WAY better at it than I am so this doesn't happen very often!!). Anyway, I used to get really stressed out about book club meetings because the other girls would always bring these really yummy creative dishes to share and here I was with a box of Oreos or a bag of chips and bean dip or something (unless I could bribe Joel to cook something that I could pass off as my own - but that usually involved payment of the dreaded variety...LOL!!). So I came up with something that seems to have made everyone happy - instead of food I take the hostess some cute little papercrafted gift. Only one other girl in the group is crafty so these gifts are adequately oohed and aahed over and everyone seems to overlook the fact that I've arrived food-less!!

Anyway, all of that to say that today I'm sharing with you the gift I'll be taking to next week's Book Club meeting. It's just a little thank you card, a bookmark, and a little gift box full of the hostess' favorite candies. I stamped the polka dots from Bountiful Backgrounds in Fresh Snow ink (PTI) on Kraft CS (surprise, surprise) for the base of all 3 items. I also included Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip.

The little gift box was created using the Favor Box die from Sizzix, I filled it up with Macadamia Nut Hershey's Kisses, tied it up with some Riding Hood Red ribbon and added a little tag stamped with one of the sentiments from Bountiful Backgrounds.

For the bookmark and card, I used the butterfly image from the new Enjoy set along with my Circle Nestabilities. I added a jumbo eyelet and some more Riding Hood Red ribbon to the top of the bookmark. All in all, it was a quick and easy yet very effective gift for the next Book Club hostess!!

Have all of these Hostess Gift ideas got the wheels of creativity spinning yet? We'd love for you to join us this month!
