Hello Verve friends and welcome to December's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you today sharing this month's dare is entitled Favorite Things.  With the busyness of the Christmas Season upon us and the New Year quickly approaching, it's nice to take a breather and look back at what we've accomplished. 

So this month, we are daring you to share your favorite Verve creation(s) for this year OR create a new one with one of your favorite Verve products.  This is not a hard one for me, as almost all of my cards contain Verve products. Let's see if I can narrow down my choices...

November Diva Dare ~ Day 10

 Vellum Visions - November Diva Dare

Welcome to November's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea checking in with you today with my take on this month's dare, which is entitled Vellum Visions.  Soft and classy, vellum always makes a big impression.  So, this month, we are daring you to add some vellum to your card or project. 

I started with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (always an inspiration in and of itself!) and added some non-traditional Christmas colors, to go along with Verve's latest stamp release. This set is called Pinecone Christmas. The papers are from Crate Paper's Portrait collection. I added the big poinsettia to tie in the Christmas theme. All edges are sponged with Walnut Stain distress ink and I also added a sweet little twine bow.

October 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 4

  Pink Power- October Diva Dare

Hi Verve fans and welcome to October's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you today and this month's dare is entitled Pink Power in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month.  Many of us have had friends and family who have waged a battle against this disease. I was just informed recently that a wonderfully sweet neighbor of mine was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I am hoping that she wins her fight against this terrible disease. Here's a card that I made for her in her honor:  

I wanted the pinks to really stand out, so I based them on a very muted background, with just hints of pink in it. I used Verve's Pink Power stamp set, stamped on a cut out tag from Prima's Romance Novel papers. I mounted that on a Spellbinders die and added my array of vibrantly pink flowers, with a silver charm and some black/pearl stamens thrown in for a little interest. The edges are all distressed with a paper distresser and Walnut Stain distress ink. I decided to make the card base smaller than the card front...just cos you don't see that very often. :)

September 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Terrific Trios - September Diva Dare

Hi Verve fans and welcome to September's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you bringing this month's dare which is entitled Terrific Trios.  Back to school time usually means life is a 3 ring circus, so this month we're daring you to add 3 of something to your card or project. 

I started off by cutting out the focal frame with Verve's Rounded Scallop Frame. I took the outside scalloped edge, distressed the edge with ink and then sprayed it with Elmer's glue. I then sprinkled some coarse glitter over it. The sentiment is from Wonderful Marvelous and for that frame I inked the edges and then added some White Opal liquid pearls. Turns out that the liquid pearls interacted with the ink and they turned green! Ugh! In a fit of mild anger, I scraped off the dots with my finger nail. It actually adds to the distressed look so we'll chalk that up to a happy mistake. :) The floral accent consists of silk ribbon with paper flowers attached. I added some pulled apart gauze to the base of the card and then added strips of paper.

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you today, celebrating Verve's legacy of charming, heartfelt and timeless stamps in the form of this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.      
Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out! I decided to add a bit of confetti to my project...in the form of some Shine Bright Sequins! Of course, there's some vintage aspect as well...

 I pulled out Verve's latest release stamp set, Moments Remembered. I thought that the 'Celebrate' verse looked just fine on it's own, surrounded by Julee's sketch from this week's Mojo Monday. I added some distressing to the paper, a paper flower, fabric leaves, wooden feathers and a bit of inked up gauze to the background. Lastly, I added the sequins for a pop of sparkle.

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

Welcome to July's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea with you today on this 9th day of fabulous inspiration from the Divas! This month's dare is entitled Inside Out.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   I'm ashamed to say that I very rarely decorate the inside of my card (though I do stamp the envelope!) so this challenge was a good excuse for me to practice! Here's my attempt at coordinating the inside (P.S. Don't close the card until your liquid pearls are dry...don't ask me how I know :)

I'm loving these new Verve floral stamps, designed by Julee. I stamped the flowers from Verve's Happy Place set onto a piece of Natural White cardstock and cut out the shape with the coordinating Happy Doodles die set. I colored in the image using Copics. I added some Raspberry Liquid Pearls to the tops of the flowers and also to the butterfly stamped on the inside of the card. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for my design. All edges are distressed and I added a variety of lace, Organdy and daisy chain ribbon as well as twine to the top. The banners are cut out with Verve's Banner Bundle set.

June 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 7

Hey Verve fans...it's Andrea here with you today bringing a little somethin' somethin' to get your Father's Day creative juices flowing! 

A Man's World - June Diva Dare

Soo...welcome to June's Diva Dare!  As the weather heats up, dads and grads and outdoor fun are foremost in our minds, so our June Dare is entitled A Man's World.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme.  It doesn't have to be a Father's Day card, just something masculine. However, if you need to get one done, we're here to help wink, wink. If just reading the theme gives you a creative block, take a deep breath and think clean lines, few embellishments, rugged or distressed edges and muted or earthy colors. Replace bling with wood or metal embellishments, and replace ribbon with twine, rope or twill and you'll be surprised how quickly a masculine card will come together! And I have to say with my love of feminine, frilly, over-the-top girly cards...if I can do this...so can you! Take a lookie...

Ok, ok...I admit there is some semblence of flowers, though, I tried to tone them down a bit with Shine Bright sequins and liquid pearls. Uh, re-reading that sentence didn't really help with my cause at all, haha... Well anyway, I stamped the sentiment from Verve's latest release, Wonderful Marvelous on a piece of cork and added the 'Dad' stamp on a Flag It die cut, also from Verve. I adhered some striped washi tape behind the sentiment and added the wood accents (they're really snowflakes...I kid you not ;). I scored the outer perimeter with my Martha Stewart scoring board and added a bit of cork accent at the bottom, highlighed with more liquid pearls (at least they're black, lol).

May 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 8

"Petals and Wings" - May Diva Dare

Hello Verve fans and welcome to May's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with your today and in honor of the newest Verve release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".  Not too hard for many of us and we add these elements to our cards on a regular basis, but now when you do, you have a chance to win some shiny new Verve!

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it. 

I used stamps from Verve's new release, this set is called Petals and Wings. I stamped 2 sizes of butterflies and cut them out with the Wings and Petals dies set, then stamped the flower image and middle. I added some liquid pearls to both designs and mounted them with dimensionals. I also sprinkled the butterfly images with some Star Dust Stickles to give them a bit of sparkle. (Love me some sparkle!) The paper is from Maja Design and I added a bit of vintage lace to the outer edges for a little softness. Lastly, I added some pearl flourishes.

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Morning Verve friends...it's Andrea here with you today and I want to welcome you to April's Diva Dare!  In honor of Spring's arrival this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".  

What we're daring you to do this month is to create a baby or kids themed card. I decided that this cute little monkey from the 'To the Moon' set would pair up perfectly with some 'Wander' paper to make a darling little baby boy card:

I stamped the sweet little monkey and colored him in with Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is stamped on a Mini Bookplate die and matted on it's coordinating shape. The banners are made with A Cut Above dies Banner Bundles die set.  I added the Pennant Trim die down the vertical edge of the striped paper panel. I accented with lots of Liquid Pearls, a button, twine and a metal edge tag. And I added a little hand stitching, as well.

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Morning Verve friends and welcome to March's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea here with you today on this glorious 'almost Spring' day! I'm sharing with you this month's Dare which is entitled "Do The Polka".  
What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka!  So, so easy...using Verve's Polka Dot ribbon collection...I've decided to use that as my focal point:

And....I'm peeking Verve's newest stamp set, this one is called 'Better Together'. I simply love Julee's style of mixing fonts on one sentiment. I also adore these darling rustic arrows included in the set too. I stamped them on an Occasion Frame die after I lightly inked the edges with some Vintage Photo distress ink. I added some copper accents, flowers, twine, a doily and wrapped it up, package style, with Verve's Polka Dot Basics collection.
