Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare!  Maureen here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

 

 I can always remember Verve's Anniversary year as I got married in the same year!  Lucky 7 this year!  I chose some soft pretty papers from Teresa Collins' Summer Stories pad for the base of my card.  Then I embossed the Happy Place flowers with some old rose gold embossing powder I had in my stash and stamped this beautiful sentiment from Moments Remembered onto a vellum tag.
 

 I looked through some older Verve sets to find the perfect little sentiment to go with the main quote.  This one came from Remember This.  I wanted to somehow acknowledge "7" years on my card so I made this sweet little tag with the "7" from Calendar Countdown.  Of course you can't have an anniversary without some bling so I made sure to use a smattering of the Shine Bright Sequin Mix for a celebratory look!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card. 

I used the Happy Place set for my card along with papers from the Lost & Found Record It Collection from My Mind's Eye.  The ribbon is from the Signature Ribbon Collection.

I die cut the flowers using the coordinating Happy Doodles Die Set.  I colored the flowers and added some bling to the centers.  

I carried the design into the inside of the card by stamping a single flower and the word "smile" next to it, leaving lots of space at the top to write inside the card.

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

Welcome to July's Diva Dare!  It's Andrea with you today on this 9th day of fabulous inspiration from the Divas! This month's dare is entitled Inside Out.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   I'm ashamed to say that I very rarely decorate the inside of my card (though I do stamp the envelope!) so this challenge was a good excuse for me to practice! Here's my attempt at coordinating the inside (P.S. Don't close the card until your liquid pearls are dry...don't ask me how I know :)

I'm loving these new Verve floral stamps, designed by Julee. I stamped the flowers from Verve's Happy Place set onto a piece of Natural White cardstock and cut out the shape with the coordinating Happy Doodles die set. I colored in the image using Copics. I added some Raspberry Liquid Pearls to the tops of the flowers and also to the butterfly stamped on the inside of the card. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for my design. All edges are distressed and I added a variety of lace, Organdy and daisy chain ribbon as well as twine to the top. The banners are cut out with Verve's Banner Bundle set.

July 2014 Diva Dare ~ Day 8

Hello there, lovelies! Amber here with Day 8 of the Diva Dare challenge...hope your week is going well so far, half way to the weekend, WOOP WOOP!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.

I wanted to do something a little different with my card, and let you SEE the inside FROM the outside! 

I got a piece of clear cardstock and created the card base, and then found the patterned paper that I wanted to put on the inside. The papers are from BG's Grand Bazaar (I love this paper!). Next, I cut the turquouise frame and glued it on to the card front, and sewed the corner. I pulled out my beloved Peaceful Medallions stamp set. I cut several of a few different sized circles and then stamped some fun medallions. The big one in the back is embossed in gold, super shiny IRL! The flower is from Happy Place and cut out with one of the dies from Happy Doodles. The sentiment is from Happy Place, and was stamped on a banner cut out with the Scroll die. I used the coordinating scroll stamp from Die Sidekicks for that banner. Here are a couple detail shots...

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 2

Hi everyone! Jen here with Day 2 of the July Diva Dare! I LOVE this month's challenge and hope you will too!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   

Stamps used: Happy Place, Dies used: Happy Doodles Die Set

I knew I wanted to use Happy Place for my card today because I just adore this stamp set. The flowers are so much fun and I hadn't had a chance to use this particular flower yet so I knew it was the perfect opportunity. I inked the flowers using Rose Bud and Bamboos Leaves ink from Memento and then used a couple of coordinating Copics to fill a few spots. Next I cut all of the layout pieces and stamped the pink layer with the small flower sprigs from Happy Place using Angel Pink from Memento. It's very subtle (though in person it's a bit more visible than what you can see in the picture). I stamped the sentiment in kraft color ink to coordinate with the background. I added bit of ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection to the tag and tied it off with a bit of twine. 

To coordinate the inside I used the same colors of cardstock and the same general sizes of cardstock as I did on the outside. I also stamped the flower again on the inside only this time I did not color with Copics.

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

Welcome to July's Diva Dare!  This month's dare is entitled Inside Out.    

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.  

I am totally smitten with this fabulous flower image from the newly released Happy Place. Adore the butterfly image as well and so glad there is a matching Happy Doodles die set. Pulled out some old SEI paper, and kept things on the bold side with all the black.  Added a touch of colour on the flower and butterfly to pull in the background.

For the inside of my card, I carried over the flower image and added a sentiment.  In hindsight, I should have added a black mat and a small strip of the SEI paper from the front along the bottom to ground the flower a bit.  However, after having just finished participating in a 420 kid VBS last week, I was lucky to find my way to my craft room LOL!  Needless to say I was wiped out and not firing on all pistons when I created the inside of this card!  My apologies!

July Spotlights Day 3 Blog Hop

Our spotlighted set today is Happy Place, illustrated by me.  Inspired by Chaitali's illustrations for this release, I set out to create a coordinating set with my own whimsical take on some of the Indian inspired designs I had just been introduced to.  The peacock wings from her set whispered to me that they wanted to be a butterfly, and who was I to tell them they couldn't? After all, everyone deserves a chance to fly.  So wings became butterflies and feathers became leaves and doodled flowers laughed and smiled and nestled into their Happy Place.

Happy Place is a whimsical little set of flowers, butterflies and happiness.  The stemmed flower images and the butterfly each have a coordinating die in the Happy Doodles Die Set (available separately). The sweet sentiments and whimsical images in this set make for easy encouraging cards. Happy Place will retail for $18 and includes 9 clear photopolymer stamps on a 4" x 8" acetate sheet.

The Happy Doodles Die Set is a set of 3 dies that coordinate with images in the Happy Place stamp set.  Each die leaves about a 1/16" border around it's coordinating stamped image and have alignment holes for easy stamp alighnment.  This die set will retail for $21.

And last, but not least, our plain jane for this release is 2 Corinthians 12:9.  Stamped image measures approximately 1-7/8" wide by 1.5" tall and will retail for $3.

I sneaked a little peek of this plain jane earlier this week on this card sample (see below) for the Mojo 353 sketch.  This week is contest week and Verve is sponsoring prizes, so be sure to play along for a chance to win!
