October 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

  Pink Power- October Diva Dare

Welcome to October's Diva Dare!  Jen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare, entitled Pink Power, in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month. 

For my card I started with a dark gray cardbase and layered it with pink polka dot paper from Doodlebugs Kraft In Color paper pad. Over that I layered a bit of dark gray houndstooth paper from the same paper pad. I then stamped the sentiment on a banner cut using the Banner Bundle Die Set and matted it with a larger die from the same set. Behind that I cut two small flags and put one on either side using the Flag It Die Set. I used the Pink Power stamp set to stamp the sentiment and the butterfly. To finish everything off I added a few rhinestones to the butterfly and a bit of stitching over the gray patterned paper.

September 2014 Diva Dare Day 6

Jen here with Day 6 of the September Diva Dare! It's Terrific Trios this time so we have to use 3 of something on our card.

Here's my card:

 

I used Better Together and Framed Lilies for my card.  The background was made by stamping the background from Better Together on white cardstock and then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I then sponged over that with Pickled Raspberry, Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. After I sponged everything on I got my fingers wet and flicked water on the paper to make the water spots. I embossed the strip of vellum with Seeing Spots Cuttlebug embossing folder and then added a bit of ribbon from the Polka Dot Basics Ribbon Collection. I finished the ribbon off with a bit of baker's twine and added three rhinestones to the heart.

My trio of items could be a number of things, lol. I have three rhinestones as well as three types of polka dots.

Celebrate Good Times - August Diva Dare

Welcome to August's Diva Dare! Jen here with my take on this month's dare entitled Celebrate Good Times.     

Verve is turning 7 this month and we’d love to see your celebration cards.  Think wedding, birthday, anniversary… anything that brings the confetti out!

Today I'm sharing a clean and simple birthday card I made for a friend of my daughter. She LOVES bright fun colors so I went with white, lime green and bright pink. I started with a white A2 card base and then layered it with another white piece of card stock embossed with dots. I used a scalloped border punch to create the three little scallops and added three sequins to the top. I stamped Birthday To You Plain Jane on top in bright pink and die cut it with a large die from the Banner Bundle Die Set.

July 2014 Diva Dare - Day 2

Hi everyone! Jen here with Day 2 of the July Diva Dare! I LOVE this month's challenge and hope you will too!

Inside Out - July Diva Dare

This month we're daring you to create a stamped card and continue the design on the inside for a special surprise for the recipient.  Simply carry over some portion of the card front design on to the inside of your card.   

Stamps used: Happy Place, Dies used: Happy Doodles Die Set

I knew I wanted to use Happy Place for my card today because I just adore this stamp set. The flowers are so much fun and I hadn't had a chance to use this particular flower yet so I knew it was the perfect opportunity. I inked the flowers using Rose Bud and Bamboos Leaves ink from Memento and then used a couple of coordinating Copics to fill a few spots. Next I cut all of the layout pieces and stamped the pink layer with the small flower sprigs from Happy Place using Angel Pink from Memento. It's very subtle (though in person it's a bit more visible than what you can see in the picture). I stamped the sentiment in kraft color ink to coordinate with the background. I added bit of ribbon from the Signature Ribbon Collection to the tag and tied it off with a bit of twine. 

To coordinate the inside I used the same colors of cardstock and the same general sizes of cardstock as I did on the outside. I also stamped the flower again on the inside only this time I did not color with Copics.

June 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

Howdy! Jen here with day 9 of this month's Diva Dare! This month it's all about the men!

 This month we're daring you to create a stamped card or project with a masculine theme. 

When it comes to masculine I always find that clean and simple seem to work well for me (and I know it's the kind of card my husband likes so it's win-win)! I started with choosing a color scheme. To do that I just started grabbing cardstock and laying them out on my desk until I found a palette of colors that I liked. Next I went about embossing different pieces and getting a layout sorted out. I wanted to go with the Wonderful Marvelous stamp set because I just LOVE how whimsical it is.  To finish off I dug through my supply of epoxy dots and mixed and matched until I found matching colors to my color scheme. This really went together very fast and I love how it came out!

May 2014 Diva Dare - Day 11

Hi everyone! It's Jen here with my take on this month's Diva Dare!  In honor of the newest release, this month's Dare is entitled "Petals and Wings".    

What we're daring you to do this month is create a card with both a flower and a butterfly on it.

Here's what I came up with:

When I set about making my card I knew exactly who it was going to be for. My daughter has a birthday party to go tonight for a friend of hers who is turning 10. They both love bright bold funky colors and all things girly so I started with some fun bright paper from Doodlebug's Sugar Shoppe paper pad. I combined Verve's awesome Birthday To You Plain Jane with Petals and Wings stamps and Wings and Petals dies. I added buttons to the flower centers and a bit of tiny twinkles here and there for sparkle!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone is having a fantastic day! Jen here to bring you day 11 of the April Diva Dare! Our theme this month is:

"Little Things" - April Diva Dare

Welcome to April's Diva Dare!  In honour of Spring's arrival (in some parts of North America anyway!), this month's Dare is entitled "Little Things".    The challenge is to create a baby or kid themed card, how fun!

I was inspired by Laurie's gorgeous sketch for today's Viva La Verve challenge. I did make a couple of small changes but overall Laurie's sketch is where I started. To get started on my card I stamped Emery Plain Jane on white cardstock and colored him in with Spectrum Noir markers. I used a sentiment from To The Moon for the top that I die cut with the Flag It Die Set. After distressing everything subtlety and separating the layers with foam tape I was done.

March 2014 Diva Dare - Day 11

Hi there! Jen here, bringing you Day 10 of the March Diva Dare challenge, "Do The Polka".  

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka! 

I was so happy when I found out this challenge involved polka dots because it meant I had another excuse to use the fabulous background stamp from Better Together. I just love stamps that let me step away from patterned paper for a bit to just focus on stamping. I combined the dots from Better Together with the flowers from Lean On Me (colored with Copic markers) and the leaves from Dream Big along with their respective dies, Pointed Flowers Dies and Dreamy Leaves Dies. The sentiment is stamped on a bit of cream cardstock cut with with Rounded Rectangle Die. Underneath it all I die cut the Pennant Trim Die from a bit of pale pink cardstock. To finish it all off I added a few teeny tiny rhinestones in a pale pink.

February 2014 Diva Dare - Day 10

"Perk Up", February Diva Dare

Howdy everyone! It's Jen here with day 10 of the February Diva Dare. This month's challenge is entitled "Perk Up".     

What we're daring you to do this month is make a card or project to perk someone up, whether it’s with a warm beverage or just a heartfelt sentiment to brighten someone’s day.  No shortage of options as Verve has some wonderful coffee and tea sets as well as a multitude of uplifting/heartfelt sentiments. 

I started out with a very different card and then scrapped it for something much brighter and cheerier. I have been making a big effort to send out or deliver the cards that I make and I wanted to make this card for a colleague of mine who has recently made all the difference in how much I look forward to going to work. It's so nice to have a colleague that is not only inspiring to work with but genuinely a wonderful person that you want to be friends with so I made this card for her. :)

My card uses Brighter Days - such a gorgeous stamp set for this kind of card, I think. I pulled out an older paper pad from Pebbles that I just adore but I believe its now out of print. I also went back to my traditional inclusion of kraft and twine. :) The ribbon I used is from the Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection and gives just the right pop of red to the card. :)

Hi everyone! It's Jen here and I'm back with day 10 of the January Diva Dare! I am so excited about this theme! I love making Valentine themed cards and when you combine that with gorgeous Verve stamps it's a match made in heaven!

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten!

I went a little die crazy with this one. :) I just LOVE these dies from the I Heart You die set. I have had them for a while and this is my first time getting to use them and I'm so excited about that! I'm sure you will see a lot more of them in the future! The heart in the middle is from the Wavy Hearts die set. 

My layout inspiration comes from this week's Mojo Monday sketch, Mojo328 and my designer papers are from Crate Paper's Love Notes.
