My card features a sentiment from the new limited time free Lucky Day digital set that we're introducing today. All the details are later in the post, so be sure to read to the end.
I must admit, other than experimenting with mixed mediums, I don't often set out to do a technique on a card. I even had to look up what the spotlight technique was to make sure I was going the right direction! {grin} I saw a lovely tutorial on splitcoast using the MISTI and thought it would be fun to try with one of the flowers from the Simply Amazing stamp set.
I had a background ready from experimenting earlier this week with a mixture of water and modpodge as a glaze with Magical powders. I got a little more pigment than I intended, but still liked the results. I stamped the flowers in archival black on the background, then embossed them in white on a larger piece of basic gray card stock. Lined up the two panels and shabbied the edges a bit, running a bit of ribbon between the two layers to set things off. The sentiment was printed with a laser printer and cut with a stitched circle die. I matted it with a lacey circle die cut and accented with some black rhinestones, then glued on a bow. The card is on a white card base, but it seemed a little plain, so I dressed up the upper and bottom edges with some washi tape.
Alright, that's all about the card, now onto the details for the digi and a little giveaway..

This year has been flying by for me. Seems like it should still be January and not the beginning of March as I've never seemed to fully kick my upper respiratory infection from the first of the year. During one afternoon early in January I worked on designing some stamps for a St. Patrick's Day set, then the boys got sick, too, and I wasn't been able to work for several weeks. Now that everyone's starting to feel better it's a bit late to send them off to manufacturing, so I decided to offer another free digital set. Hope you enjoy it! Can't wait to see a little Irish spring in the air!
The Lucky Day Digital Set is a fun little printable available as a free download through March 17, 2017. It's filled with sentiments and coffee images that are sure to put a little Irish spring in your step! Feel free to download and make something fun for a lucky someone. If you share your creations online please credit Verve Stamps and use @vervestamps on Instagram and Facebook.
