Sneak Previews - Jeremiah 29:11 & Sweet Valentine

Happy Tuesday, Verve fans! It's Shannan here, and boy do I have some awesome stuff to show you! Today we're previewing not one, but two sets! I know...good stuff! This release is really fabulous. I know, I say that every time, but I'm serious!

I chose to work with Jeremiah 29:11, which is a set of 2 stamps. This is one of my all-time favorite verses, so I was over the moon when Julee showed it to us. I created this card based on the colors in the October Afternoon paper. After stamping the verse and embossing it with black detail embossing powder, I cut the panel with my Rectangle Nestabilities and sponged the edges with Old Olive ink. Stamping the cross over the verse was a last minute touch, but I really like it. A few brads, some ribbon, and I was done!

From Fabulous Guest Diva Lynda Benden:
What an awesome honor to be Julee's guest designer this month!!! I got even MORE excited when I saw the BEAUTIFUL stamps included in this months release!!! When I the saw Jeremiah 29:11 stamp in Julee's new release, I felt a bit intimidated since I don't usually use Religious stamps. Oh, don't get me wrong, I have ALWAYS admired the beautiful creations others have made and thought, I hope I can do this stamp set justice! Of course the first colors that came to mind were Silver, White, Vanilla, Black....etc.... I wanted to make something different and you know what, I LOVE how it turned out and will be giving it to my Mother in Law. I wanted to make just a generic, subtle all occasion card and chose decorative papers from K& Co. and Webster's Pages as well as Artichoke and Chocolate Chip cardstock. The cross was heat embossed using Gold Glory embossing powder, cut out and then mounted using dimensionals on top of some leaves punched from my Martha Stewart punch. The little Auburn rhinestones are from Kaiser Craft and added just a little shine to a very simple card.

From Diva Amy Sheffer:
If you're looking for a totally adorable Valentine set that won't break your bank, Sweet Valentine is for you! But don't be fooled by the set's name -- three of the four stamps work just as well year-round as they do for Valentine's Day. I know I {heart} my hearts all year long! And at only $9 ... what's not to love?

From Diva Laura Fredrickson:
I didn't start out with a clean and simple card in mind.
In fact there was a whole lot going on at the beginning of it's journey. But, as I started removing the things that didn't work, I was left with a clean and simple Thank-you that did! I popped up the double hearts and added some Burgundy Stickles to the tiny hearts on the sentiment to balance. A sweet Thank-You with big heart!

Here's your question that goes along with the "Looking For Love" theme: My son told me he has his first crush...he's in 3rd grade. It made me remember my first boyfriend, Drew. I was in 1st grade and he was in 3rd, and he always brought me presents. So tell me how old were you when you had your first crush?

  1. Kindergarten!! I had a huge crush on a boy named Jared. I guess girls get crushes sooner than boys :)

  2. Oh what BEAUTIFUL creations! LOVE the Jer 29:11 verse!!!
First crush........Hmmm...the first one I remember is 6th grade, a boy that lived down the street, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  3. 1st grade. There was a boy in our class named Robby that the girls all chased at recess!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think Kindergarden - back then you could chase after the boys and give them a kiss w/o being charged with sexual harassment!

    ReplyDelete
  5. First crush...having to think about this one a bit. Believe it was in 7th grade. Always hoped I could dance with Rob at the Dance Club they held in the gym once a month at lunch time.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I was in 3rd grade. I kissed him on the playground a t school one day and got in trouble- my parents were even called!

  10. I remember who it was but I am not sure how old I was... I guess it was 3rd grade maybe. I love the sweet valentine release, it is perfect & so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Definitely 3rd grade. We played a game at recess called kiss chase. We would chase each other around, and when we got caught, we got kissed on the cheek. Pretty gross in 3rd grade, however I always wanted Matt to catch me : )

My first crush was in 2nd or 3rd grade...I was totally in love with the son of the family that was my family's best friends (does that make sense?). That crush seriously lasted all the way through high school, even while he was 'just' my best friend! LOL

  20. How beautiful are these new sets? I keep thinking my Aunt, a minister, would so appreciate a set of note cards made with these verses.

First crush? My I don't know if I can remember back that far. I would say probably a boy in my 4th grade - we were both injured at the same time - me with a dislocated elbow and him with a broken finger so we were excused from writing quizzes in class and sat together to doodle and do our quizzes orally. I remember having so much fun.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was in 6th grade..at least that is one I remember the boy's name. It was Tim, but he didn't feel the same way...but man I had a crush on him!

As for my first crush, it was definitely in kindergarten. His name was Travis and he took me on my first "date" to the circus for my birthday and gave me my first kiss (on the cheek) that my mom got an adorable picture of when he brought me home from the circus. So sweet....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Doug Booster in the fourth grade. I guess I was about nine years old. He asked me to be his campaign manager when he ran for class president because I could draw really well for the posters. Unfortunately that was it on his side - an unrequited passion on my side!

I adore the Jeremiah set - one of my favorite verses!

Hmmm...my first crush...I believe it was probably in the 4th grade. My best friend was a boy. His name was Patrick. We were inseparable. He was also the cutest and sweetest boy in our grade so all the girls hated me because they all had crushes on him. Well, about half-way through 4th grade I realized that I wanted him to be MORE than just my best friend! Hehe! Sadly, he moved away a couple of months later. I know he moved to Canada but haven't heard from him in years!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ahh, the memories---I was 5 and worshipped/adored my best friend's "older" brother but he of course ignored me, lol. Guess it was telling cuz' I married a sweetie-pie guy who is 7 years older than me :o)

First crush...hmmm, let's see...that was in Kindergarten on a blond haired, blue eyed sweetie named Drew. *sigh* LOL So much so that when my brother was born in that year, my mother was still figuring out what to name him and asked, "What do you think of Ronald Dwayne as his first and middle name?" I, without hesitation, asked, "Could you change his middle name to Drew???? Please??" And so, after 34 years I have told my brother Ronald Drew, how his middle name came about but he still doesn't believe me! LOL
