August Diva Dare - Day 11

Hi Verve fans!  It's Julee here, wrapping up the final day of our Pile on the Sweetness August Diva Dare with my take on a layer-licious creation.

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Andrea (Ewen Style), and Diva Christyne (Stampin' with Sugar).  Both Divas are known for the wonderful way they can add layer upon layer on a card.  So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using lots of layers.

My card features one of my most favorite Verve sets, Great Friend.  I love these big bold blooms and so when the power went out during the time I'd set aside to make a card for today, I decided it would be the perfect time to stamp a bunch of these flowers and cut them out for layering.  The layout itself, doesn't have much layering, but I used several different depths of dimensional tape to layer all the flowers.  I just couldn't make myself add more layers behind them, since they were so striking against the smoky slate.

I thought the flowers looked so elegant that I left them uncolored and decided to use them to make a wedding card for some friends of ours.  The wedding wishes sentiment is from Love Story and stamped directly onto a layer of smoky slate cardstock.    I absolutely adore the way Andrea adds bling to her projects, so I had to add a little bling flourish to this card.  I finished off with a seam binding bow from the Stormy Skies Collection and accented all of the flower centers with onyx liquid pearls.

  7. I have always loved these flowers from the "Great Friend" set. Wow you have showcased them so beautifully and I love that you let them take center stage by not colouring them. The multiple layers you've done here are gorgeous. These flowers just jump off the smoky slate (love this new colour) background. All the pearls and liquid pearls are stunning and so it that seam binding bow. Gorgeous card.
