Sneak Preview - Day 3

Happy Friday, Verve Fans! It's Shannan here, wavin' howdy from Texas. Today is the final day of the Sneak Previews for our May Release, and boy, did we save the best for last! Ok, well at least my favorite, anyway. *wink* We have previews for two more sets today - Up, Up & Away and Dare to Be You, both of which will be available to order tonight (May 22nd) after the Release Party in the Verve Forum. Let's get the eye candy started, shall we?

From Diva Lynda Benden:

Oh my gosh, can I tell you how much I LOVE the NEW Up, Up and Away set?!?!? When I saw it, I immediately thought how perfect bright, primary colors would look on the balloons and then I started my card and ended up using blue and brown!!! LOL!!! I will definitely use primary colors in the future but for today’s Father’s Day card, the blue and brown are perfect! I wanted a masculine feel so I pulled out one of my favorite SU! DP collections, Parisian Breeze. I used the Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White CS that matched the striped DP. The layout is from Julee’s Mojo Monday sketch #87. The tree (I stamped it one time and then masked it in order to stamp the second), the clouds (stamped using Baja Breeze ink and then I added fine clear Martha Stewart glitter) and hot air balloon (balloon was paper pieced, basket colored with Prismacolor pencils) are ALL included in the new Up, Up and Away set! On the inside, I added the NEW Plain Jane ~ Happy Father’s Day sentiment using Chocolate Chip ink.

From Diva Jackie Pedro:

I may sound like a broken record, but Julee has done it again with these fabulous new sets! For today's card I used the new set Up, Up and Away along with a sentiment from Dare To Be You. I used just ONE of the Three hot air balloons from the set! Not only is this set beautiful, but I think it is also whimsical at the same time. I really wanted to capture the whimsical nature of this set so I used some fun papers to get the look I wanted. This set would be perfect for so many occasions....graduation, birthdays, thinking of you....the possibilities are really endless!

From Diva Amy Sheffer:

I'm especially excited to preview Up, Up & Away! A while back I was browsing home decor catalogs when a trio of hot air balloon wall hangings caught my eye. There was something so sweet and magical about the balloons, and, as we stampers so often do, I thought "wouldn't that make a cute stamp?" I shared the idea with the Divas, and Julee ran with it. I don't know how she does it, but once again, she's created a set with the perfect balance between whimsy and elegance. I couldn't be happier with "my" hot air balloons! This set will be perfect for so many occasions - congratulations, pick-me-up, encouragement, even baby and travel. The other set we're previewing today is Dare to Be You. The title sentiment, Dare to Be You, jumped out at me as a fantastic message for a new graduate. Paired with the balloons, it makes a great send-off for someone entering "the real world"! If only life were always blue skies and smooth sailing (or should I say smooth floating?). I hope you'll fall for these two sets every bit as much as I have!

From Diva Shannan Teubner:

Sometimes when you see a stamp set, a special little magic happens...your mind immediately sees exactly what you want to create with it. That's what happened when I saw Up, Up and Away. I could picture a group of balloons floating through the air together, so I thought I'd create that scene on paper. All it took was a little masking (save those masks...you can re-use them!), coloring, liquid applique, and voila! Exactly how I pictured it. I didn't want the card to be too fussy, so I let the images and colors do all the work here. The sentiment from Sweet on You went with it just perfectly. I love the time and effort that Julee takes to make all of her sets so versatile. I can see using these balloons for all sorts of occasions!

So, how would you like to win these two new Verve sets? We have one of each set (Up, Up & Away and Dare to Be You) to give away to one lucky reader! All you have to do is leave a comment with your answer to the following question before 8 PM Eastern on Friday, May 22nd!

What is the most adventurous thing you've done with your family?

We hope you'll join us for the release party tonight, May 22nd at 9pm Eastern in the Verve Forum. The sets will be shown in their entirety during the party, and afterwards will be available to order from The Verve Store. We hope see you there!

  1. Wow, these images look great. I can already imagine so many paper piecing possibilities. The most adventurous thing I've done with my family is to move to Croatia to become missionaries. It was a step of faith and we haven't looked back. We're still here almost 11 years later and enjoying life. I'm thankful God has led us here.

  2. Cute set! And how perfect with the new movie "Up!" coming out...

The most adventurous thing I've done with my family...it wasn't planned to be so adventurous but we took the train out east for Christmas and ended up being stuck in Union Station, Chicago. Suffice it to say it was frigid temps (luckily we had brought some blankets for the boys because Amtrak did not offer ANYTHING!), diesel fumes, unclean restrooms with no supplies, unfriendly Amtrak customer service agents, yada yada yada. Yet, we made it through and had a great holiday once we reached our destination.

  3. Awesome sets and fantastic example--great eye candy!!

The new stamp set go perfectly with my adventursome thing.....for our anniversary my husband booked us a hot air ballon ride!! Yeah!! There is only one problem.....we never got totake it. Thunderstorms rolled it and the trip got cancelled. Not sure why but we never rescheduled out trip. This summer will rank up there too--we are driving from VA to the Grand Canyon!! That will be a tale to tell another time!!

  4. Another great set. My family isn't very adventurous, at least not on purpose. One year when my hubby and I were dating we took a series of road trips to shoot in some matches- those were fun.

  5. These stamps are gorgeous! As far as doing something "adventerous" with my family, we're not great adventurers; we went to Six Flags & the waterpark in Atlanta, and I watched them ride all the scary rides. (Besides being too chicken to ride them myself, I was six months pregnant at the time)

  6. The most adventurous thing my family has ever done was to move from Montreal to Texas 11 years ago. It has been quite a wonderful experience for us and Austin is truly what we call home now. I am so pleased to see these sneek peeks of the hot air balloons! Lots of ideas in my head for this set! We are all on an adventure, right? Smooth sailing to all!

  7. We haven't been too adventurous with our young kids -- yet, but I remember a trip to pick up some meat at a farm last fall, and a snowstorm came up... it was pretty hairy driving going over the mountains to get there!

  8. Another great set! not a very adventurous family here...LOL. Our biggest adventure is driving in MN to go to the Mall Of America.

  9. I'm REALLY going back in time with this unplanned adventure...my family went camping a lot (in a tent) and it poured down rain one night, washed out bridges, flooded roads, soaked everything we had with us! We were wringing out sleeping bags, pitching soggy cereal...well, our vacation was dampened to say the least! I am loving these new sets, by the way...the balloons look like so much fun!

  10. The most adventurous thing would be going on a sedu with my husband on my honeymoon. I tend to be very cautious so for me this was adventurous.

  11. Adorable! I think the most adventurous that I've ever been was to ride the rapids down the Yachagamie River in PA (I know I didn't spell that right!! LOL) I am *not* an outdoor girl and the rapids were pretty intense, so it was a big deal for me. At one point my husband fell out of the raft and I thought for sure I would never see him again. All was well, though, and I have a picture to prove that I did it!! :)

  12. Yikes! Are these the cutest cards or what? LOVE LOVE LOVE those hot air balloons. The most adventurous thing I've done is to hike the Inca Trail in Peru (26 miles!) to Machu Picchu. Two words: "outhouse" and "tarantula" - but it was fun and exhilarating! Our next biggest adventure was having a baby (MUCH better than the tarantula, ha. ha.) Congrats on the new release!

My husband and I were stationed in Germany recently. We climbed a lot of hills in wine country along the Mosul and visited several old castles. (Not THE most adventurous thing, but it was all I had...)

    Excited for a release!

  14. Hmmm...I am less than adventurous! LOL! I really love these cards, though, and if given the chance, I would LOVE to take an air balloon ride! I got one ready for launch with my husband and my in-laws once and that alone was way fun!

  15. Oooo! I love that Up, Up and Away set! How cute! The most adventurous thing I've done with my family (now keep in mind I have 4 children ages 13 and under) was a 20 mile bike ride last summer! We packed a lunch and made quite a few stops but it was fun and great "bonding time"!

  16. I love this set! The balloons looks so cool. Haven't been too adventurous in my life, but I did make a trip to my mother's native country, Latvia, with her. When my stay was over I flew home from Latvia alone. This included staying the night in Denmark by myself! That was a pretty big adventure for me, finding my way to my hotel and then back to the airport!

  17. The most adventurous thing my family has done was a road trip to Texas a few years back to visit my brother. We had so much fun stopping at interesting sites along the way there and back. Love the new hot air balloon set - so quintesentially Verve! :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. We're not a terribly adventurous family but when the kids were small we took a helicopter ride over the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and we talked about that for years. I love those sets, they are so unique! I'd love to actually ride in a hot air balloon someday.

  19. I have a couple of 'adventurous' moments with one being a horrid Caribbean cruise; but my most wonderful 'adventurous' time was when I became the Director of our church's Summer Day Camp. With no experience, I fought God on following His will in this situation until I realized it WAS His will for me. It will always be precious in my heart as there is nothing like the laughter of 6-10 year olds! They have become my joy for life!

  20. Hmmm, well... I suppose we aren't the most adventurous family out there... I do have small boys, though, so perhaps our time will come! ;) My husband and I did swim with dolphins on our Honeymoon... does that count? Great peeks!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh my word! How cute is the hot air balloon set? I've been looking forward to tonight all month - and it looks like it will be worth the wait. I don't think we are a very adventurous family, unless you count trying to do 3 days of Disneyland/California Adventure without a stroller for our 4 year old. I do us "venturing out" when she gets older though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The most adventurous thing that I have done with my family is take my 2 month old daughter (now 3) backpacking about 7 miles into the wilderness for a weekend. It was the hottest month in July and when the doctor found out, I was in big trouble! She was just fine and slept most of the hike in her front pouch on her Daddy! I have some great photos of her! I was still breastfeeding, so I didn't have to worry about food for her. We did have to pack out a ton of diapers though!

    ReplyDelete
  23. The most adventurous thing I've done with my husband is buy a 100 year old church to renovate. It's been a joy and a challenge all rolled in to one! Looking forward to the release tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  24. The most adventurous thing we have done as a family is to start a new life for ourselves....I know, it's not as nice as some of the other 'happy' stories....but it's important to us and it's an adventure.

We left an abusive life and moved far away to a new town where we didn't know anyone and started fresh. It was an adventure and still is...a very happy one.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great samples as always, Divas :) We haven't been too adventurous with a family of younger kids....think the biggest thing we have done is drive to Edmonton, Alberta in December in the snow over the Rockies.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I LOVE these sets. I just love all the DT cards, Shannan you rocked your example! Adventurous... I'm not very adventurous, but when my son was only about 4 months old, we took a 17 hour drive to Idaho. Started in the TX panhandle and went to Boise for a family reunion. And we had some glitches along the way with a 20 min. road side clean up of the baby's bottom {and seat, and me and and and}...EWWW! Now that is practically taking your life in your hands!

  27. Great sets!!!!

We went horseback riding in the Grand Teton Mountains/River rafting on the Snake River !!! It was fun and scary at the same time...good memories! : )

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hmmm, most adventurous...I've been whitewater rafting, but that was with friends....I think it would be salmon and halibut fishing in the Pacific Ocean with my new husband on our honeymoon. It was so rocky in the waves that I didn't last 10 minutes on the high sea so we went closer to shore and I outfished my DH!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Beautiful Samples! Can't wait for the release.

The most adventurous I have been is with my husband. He planned a "vacation" for us to go white water rafting, rock climbing and mountain biking. I needed a vacation when I got home. I found out two weeks later that I was pregnant. So I like to say my daughter was with us on the adrenaline rush of a week:)

  30. hmmm...I'm not really very adventurous. My hubby is! I guess mine is really cheesy, I've riden a roller coaster with my hubby :) Guess I need to try more things huh!!!

  31. Wow, I just happened upon Verve recently and I'm absolutely blown away by these two sets!!! I've been skydiving before but that was with my friends - but they're like family! ;-) My husband is a little less adventurous but we've done lots of camping trips and hiking trips which is always a blast. Not to mention, every day he eats my cooking is an adventure! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  32. One "adventurous" thing I remember doing with part of my family as a kid was hiking to Ice Lake in the Wallowa mountains. It's quite a trek over some rugged terrain but we did it. I almost fell into a waterfall on the hike trying to take a picture as I slipped, dropped my camera and rolled down the hill stopping just a few feet away from the edge of the waterfall. Phew....I found my camera but boy was I shook up about my near mishap. By the way I love this set. We have a Hot Air Balloon Stampede here every year in May and this would be the Perfect set to that event and of course many others as well.

  33. Wow--I love this stamp set!!!
the most adventurous thing that I've done is I got married on the night of a blizzard. there was ice on the roads covered in snow when I went into the church. We then drove 40 minutes away which took us 2hrs to a hotel. THen to get to my new inlaws house we hicked in 16 inches of snow up a mountain. And I am proud to say that all of this happened in Alabama and we have not seen a snow like that since then. And we look back on all the memories that we made and the stories that we can tell and are just so PROUD!!!! I thank God for all He has done for us in 16years!!!

  34. We spent a week fishing in the Gulf of Carpentia and rivers flowing in to the gulf. Seeing crocodiles along the river banks and in the water gave the chills. The scenery, fishing, and being far away from civilization was such a memorable experience that I'll never forget.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Another fun set and the cards are just amazing. The most adventurous thing would have to be moving from Missouri to Tennessee for the second time. When we stayed in Illinois there was an earthquake and the tremor woke us up. Thanks for a chance at this giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks for the chance to win; these two sets look fabulous!! We're seeing the movie UP on 5/29/09, the balloons remind me of the movie!

I think our most adventurous trip is going to happen this summer! :D

We'll be traveling from KS to Montana with our 3 babes for a wedding. BUT on our way home we're taking a guided fishing trip - our children have never been out on a lake fishing; I'm certain we'll have some great times!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. These are truly wonderful stamps and I am already planning how to use them.

The most adventurous thing our family has done was to become a foster family for babies as young as six days old up to teenagers of fourteen. One time we had three babies at the same time all straight from the maternity hospital.
    Fun,fun,fun!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I absolutely this set! My husband and I are not too adventurous at all, but I would say traveling close to 10 hours on a motorcycle was pretty darn adventurous for me!

    ReplyDelete
  39. What cute samples!!! Great set - how fun. The most adventurous thing my family has done was a camping and canoeing trip. We had to canoe for almost 20 miles the first day, camp overnight and then canoe another 10 miles. Let's say we weren't as excited to get into the canoe the 2nd day :)

  40. Wow, ladies, some more fabulous samples! Julee did a great job with those balloons!
Our most adventurous family time was flying to Mexico fo a wedding (there were about 20 of us!), and doing tons of activities, like climbing the Mayan ruins, and swimming with dolphins! Dream come true!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  41. What a cute set!! The balloons remind me of the Wizard of Oz so I would totally have to an an Emerald City feel card.
The most adventurous thing I guess would be participating in the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Nothing like a fast race car to get your adreniline pumping!

    ReplyDelete
  42. BEAUTIUFL cards!!
Hmmm...not too adventurous actually... I did get on a 'small' roller coaster once, which I will never do again! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Since my 'family' consists of myself and two welsh corgis, I guess any of the various camping trips I've taken with my girls would be considered our adventures. We are headed to Glacier National Park in June ... can't wait! Also can't wait to order these new sets. I LOVE LOVE LOVE "Up Up and Away". It's so different from anything else I've seen! Kudos.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh this set is ADORABLE!! How sad - I can't think of an adventure...maybe just taking long road trips with the little ones....and the little things that happen here and there - like running out of gas at Hoover Dam during Spring Break traffic...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Great card, as always!! The most adventurous thing I've done with my family was when I was younger. My dad/mom took us (2 sisters & brother) to Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens all in the same vacation. It was so much fun! We all still talk about it. Actually, we laugh about the clothes we used to wear back then. I think we were in Florida for a week. The part that wasn't so fun, was the LONG drive.

    ReplyDelete
  46. These sets are my favorite so far! I not exactly the adventurous type, but we embarked on a new adventure two years ago when we built a house together with my in-laws. Every day has been adventure since then.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm about to take a road trip with my family, two children under the age of 4, across 6 states in 4 days. Any tips would be apreciated. We already have a plethora of DVD's to watch, but anything to do or see between Idaho and Wisconsin. Please help with ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh man, I forgot to say what terrific sneak peeks today. Well every day were awesome, but I really liked today. See ya tonight!

  49. About six years ago, my sister planned our camping trip online. The images available were of a prairie-looking field of flowers. My husband and I took her two kids and headed out ahead of her and her husband, who had to work. We arrived to find an arid patch of land. I told the kids that we would not say anything negative when she arrived two days later. They arrived very early and we all went fishing that afternoon. She did not (afraid of water) go on the boat and stayed behind. When she picked us up, she informed us that she had packed as much as she could and relocated us to a different campground, one with trees, flowers, etc. The men went to pack the rest of the stuff while we set up in our new location.

    ReplyDelete
  50. wow - great sets! Love the balloons :)
The most adverturous thing I've done with my family (just my husband and I at the time) was pick up and move for a job opportunity for him. Moving to a new province without knowing a soul ~ but it turned out to be great! We've since had two boys and now consider Ontario our home.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh! Oh! Oh!! Looove these sets and the samples are AWESOME!! I have to say that my life is pretty tame. The most adventurous thing I've done with my family has been our cross-country road trips. Riding in the car with my dad driving is just a plain adventure in itself, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Just love those peeks of the new stamps. We are not particularly adventurous either but horse riding in the rocky mountains (as complete novices) and taking a helicopter ride over Grand Canyon are up there in my adventures.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My girls are young so when we went for an airplane ride a couple weeks ago, that was a big adventure for them. We have gone roller skating, horse back riding, sledding down a steep hill, and swimming at the beach...plus much more. It is all an adventure for us.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh my I love the balloons stamp....I have to have it....and the most adventurous thing I have done was when children were small we went on a fishing vacation and the road to get to the lake had completely washed out and believe me everyday it was an adventure to get to lake and back....

    ReplyDelete
  55. they are such a useful set hope I win. The most adventurous thing we have done as a faily was our first holiday we have a boy who ASD and had no idea if he would be able to handle it. But it all went fine and we had a great time.
So be adventurous now and then and you may have fun.

    ReplyDelete
  56. What a fun set!! Woohoo!! The most adventurous thing was riding a helicopter to the top of a glacier in Alaska. We walked all over that glacier!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow, everyone has had so many adventures! I had more before I got married, but I'd have to say my biggest adventure w/ my hubby has been becoming parents! Everyday is new & crazy & I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh my gosh I LOVE LOVE LOVE these balloons!!!! How awesome! All of the samples are fantastic, too. Hmm most adventurous thing with my family?? Geesh, I don't know - my kids are 1 and 3, I think just getting through our daily routine everyday is an adventure!

    ReplyDelete
  59. WOW!! I love what I see so far! Can't wait to see the rest of the collections!!

Hmmm...the most adventurous thing I've done with my family??? I have a few. LOL! But the most recent was the 22 hour road trip we did from FL to Chicago right in the middle of Winter. As we entered IL, we were right in the middle of a snow storm. We could barely see in front of us. Cars sliding everywhere and pulled on the side of the road. Crazy! I don't think we'll be doing that drive this Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've been on lots of adventures with my parents/sister, and with my hubby/children. We love to travel and we have driven all over the U.S. to explore different areas. One of my favorite things we've done was Whale Watching off the coast of Massachusetts. I LOVED it!

    ReplyDelete
  61. These are so cute! I can't wait to see the full sets!

My entire immediate family are all scuba divers! We try to get together each summer and raid the Carribean to go scuba diving. Together we've put in nearly 100 tanks! Such an amazing family experience!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Okay, I am just loving that Up Up and Away set, how darling! The most adventurous thing my hubby and I have done is parasailing, followed by standing on the glass floor of that really tall building in Toronto!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Definitely it was moving to Texas from California with no family or friends within 1000's of miles! Besides the extreme weather and cultural changes, it was just interesting learning how to really rely on ourselves and God day to day!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Beautiful images, love those trees!
THe most adventurous thing my husband and I did was decide to rip up a porch roof and lay a new one...not too high but neither of us is fond of heights, yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Our adventure is to raise llamas. Curious and funny animals.

I love these balloons. We live in an area where the Balloon Stampede is one of the highlights of the year and I could use these stamps for so many local events!

    ReplyDelete
  66. My husband had cancer and we new the prognoses was not great so I decided to give him some experiences he normally would not have done but something I had heard him say he would like to do some day. One of the things was a hang glider ride. That was probably the wildest experience. You go up with a pilot and one or two people in the back area. Strange thing was when it came time to climb in no one wanted to actually take the ride except my husband. So he did it with the pilot and had a great time. Another time was a small float plane ride over some huge but beautiful glaciers in Alaska. That one I did do and it was great.

  67. Loving the balloons! Very cute. Most adventurous - white water rafting - and I don't know how to swim! I think that also qualifies as stupid!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Wow, awesome images.
I am not really adventurous, but The most adventurous thing I have done with my Dh was, we went to a park that had many rides, and I never go on rides. He talked me into going on the water plume
with him and his grandson. Needless to say , I got so wet and had to walk around the park rest of the day wet.

  71. Love the hot air balloon stamp - I can see how versatile it will be. The most adventurous thing I've done with my family is when I joined a Motorsport club with my brother, and we both did car racing and rally driving for about 12 years. No-one believes me when I tell them now as I don't look the "type". It was so much fun and a very special time in my life because that's where I met my husband, and we've now been married 20 years.

  72. I love these images, This set is going to the top of my wish list. The most adventurous thing we have done as a family, drive and camp our way across the US and back. That was an amazing trip and none of us will ever forget it I'm sure. The girls were 10&13 at the time I think. Great trip.

  73. Ok I must have this set, one of my most favorite things is hot air balloons!!! These are awesome!

The most adventurous thing I have done (and the most fun to) would have to be going para-sailing. WOW what a blast. I know I ma late for the entry but just had to say how fun that was ;-)

  74. wow! This set is adorable!!! I cant wait for it to be released!!!! And this month (well, june) is my birthday month. Ahhhh, i can here the caching of the cashregisters already. :)

Most adventurous thing... well, i guess it would be moving across the country when my first son was only 16 days old. We bought our house online and knew a whole 2 people in south carolina where we were moving to from Los Angeles. BIG change!

  75. I love the hot air baloon set...so adorable! Every time we get into the car with my father driving it is always an adventure.
