It's a Black Tie Birthday!

Are you ready for more fun? I hope so! The divas have cooked up some Vervalicious previews for you again today...this time using Black Tie Birdies and Birthday Surprise, two new sets being released tomorrow, Sept. 10th! Hopefully you're planning to join us for the release party tonight in our Splitcoast Member Forum. The party starts at 10pm EST, and we've got lots planned including set reveals, more sneak peeks and of course some PRIZES!! You still have time to play in the OSW (One Sheet Wonder) challenge, which will give you chance to win the ENTIRE RELEASE! . All of the details are HERE.

Ok, enough blabbing...let's get on with the peeks!!

From Diva Charmaine Ikach:
I don't know about you, but the Black Tie Birdies set made me think of "fancy schmancy" parties. I decided to use the female bird for a bridal shower invitation. I created it to look a bit like "the envelope please." :) The organdy ribbon is weaved through the flaps of the card to be tied in a bow on front. All of the party detail are embossed in gold on the inside!

From Diva Michelle Woerner:

Yahooo an amazing Verve birthday set is coming your way! And, wow is this birthday set is so super cute and versatile.! I LOVE all the little details Julee put into it -you will love it when you see it! I really love the balloons and wanted to make them stand out, so I stamped them in Versamark and embossed them with silver embossing powder. I then cut them out and popped them up. I stamped the hat and wing on pink cardstock and pieced them for some contrast. The designer paper is from my new Basic Grey Eva pack -such elegant and fun colors. Lastly, I looped several ribbons and fastened them in the middle with a green gem brad to make a layered bow.

From Diva Amber Hight:
If you love the birds from the set Anniversary Birds, you will LOVE the birds in this set and Birthday Surprise as well! Julee has taken the sweet little bird and dressed him up! They're looking mighty good lately in their tuxedos and hair bows. For my sample, I chose to work with Black Tie Birds. Aren't their fluffy tails awesome? The balloon in this set also has the flourishes and this fun sentiment. I think this set would be perfect for a lot of occasions!

From Diva Laura Fredrickson:
I knew when Verve introduced a birthday set it would be elegant as well as fun, and I couldn't be happier with it. When I designed this card, I had a little girl in mind, but the images are so elegant it would work for anyone! I worked with fellow Diva, Jen del Muro's sketch, (also SC182 on SCS). I stamped the little gifts and embossed them in gold, then cut them out and popped each gift up on a square. The sentiment was embossed in gold and then cut and layered with Nestabilities, and voila!. A fun and elegant card with a fun and elegant set!

From Diva Shannan Teubner:
This new birdie set from Verve totally makes me smile! I love to celebrate, and I think this set will get used a LOT in my stamp room! One of my favorite things about Birthday Surprise is the selection of images and sentiments...it's very versatile!

From our Guest Diva, Jennifer Meyer:
I fell in love with Birthday Surprise the first moment I saw it. There are so many things I love about this stamp set, but my favorite is the bird and the variety of sentiments! I picked rich colors for my design and added lots of fun layers to the bird and balloons. Birthday Surprise was just a wonderful set to design and be creative with!

Did you enjoy today's projects? You can win the two sets we're previewing by simply leaving a comment on this post telling us about your favorite Birthday Surprise before Tuesday, September 9 (that's tonight!) at 8:00 Mountain time (10 PM ET, 9 PM CT, 7 PM PT). We'll pick a random winner to receive both Birthday Surprise and Black Tie Birdies. The winner will be announced during our release party tonight on the Verve SCS Member Company Forum. We hope to see you there!

Oh, my! These birds are SO cute! And of course they coordinate with the wonderful Verve stamps...how cool! My favorite birthday surprise is on my fortieth when I realized my "now husband" had fallen in love with me!! How cool is that??!!

  2. What sweet little birdies! They are so "Verve"! My favorite birthday surprise was probably my ten speed bike for my 10th birthday! Now I get $50 from my parents every year and I get to pick out my own surprise!!

  4. What a cute set! I love the presents - can see a lot of uses for those. My favorite birthday surprise was earlier this year when I turned 40 and thought I was having a small celebration with just my hubby & boys - but instead he invited my parents, sister's family and neighbors over and had them waiting for me when I got home. We even had a chocolate fountain - how cool is that!!! Can't wait to see all the releases tonight!

  6. I love these sets!!! And the cards are all so great and inspiring! The eyes on that bird just get me! I love them!!! My favorite birthday surprise...hmmm...one year my dear husband actually went into Archiver's (where I worked) and asked the girls to help him get a CIS XXL for me. He was able to use my discount (which he knew I would appreciate!) AND I was surprised by my bag that I had wanted for a long time! I have had it for a few years now and it still makes me smile when I think about how I got it!!!

  7. These are wonderful! I just love 'em. My fav birthday surprise? I'm not one for surprises--I just love spending time with those I love on my birthday--the best surprise I could get though--is a party with all my friends and family there. I'd love that.

  8. My favorite birthday surprise was only a few years back for my 30th. My DH heard me talking about a place that you could make your own purse and he decided to purchase a party there for me and 6 of my friends. It was the coolest "kid"/adult party I've ever had LOL! We had a blast and I'll never forget it :)

  11. These cards are all adorable. The birdie is so cute. My favorite birthday surprise was for my last birthday, this past December. My husband and children planned a surprise birthday party for me (I really was surpised as I did not expect it). My sister came from out of town also (1 hour away). We had a good family time.

  12. What a cute set! I love the presents! My favorite birthday suprise was having my entire family drive over an hour to see me and take me out to dinner for my birthday last week. They knew my DH had class that evening, and didn't want me to be by myself.

  13. My favorite bday surprise is that my friends are there to enjoy my day with me and they act as silly as I am. Doesn't sound like much, but when I'm on a sugar high, trust me, you want to watch out! :P

  14. Oh I love these cards. Little birdies are so cute.

My favorite b'day present was when I was 40. My hubby surprised me with my beautiful blue topaz. (see-hubby is not one to listen to what I would like for gifts and then purchase them) :)

  15. I love these sets. I would love to win but I realized that I can't really think of any real surprises. Okay take that back, a couple of years my daughter and two granddaughters showed up first thing in the morning to wish me a happy day. It was before work & school and we live way out of the way. That was a very nice surprise. Melissa from ihaveprettierstuff.blogspot.com

  16. Oh love these new sets! I really love the birds and am happy to see them again.

I'm not big on "surprises" but people love to throw me surprise bday parties! My favorite was a few years ago - my boyfriend threw me a surprise party at a karoke place. He rented a private room and it was a lot of fun for all of my friends!

  17. My favorite birthday surprise was 8 years ago. Everyday during the week leading up to my birthday, my husband gave me a small gift...I think buttering me up for the big one! On the day of my birthday, when I got home from work, the cutest little puppy was waiting for me in the kitchen. I never had a dog before, but she won me over immediately. She's a joy to have to this day!

  18. Cute cute birthday set! Love the birdie with balloons!! :)

My favorite birthday surprise was a "reverse" surprise party DH planned for my 4oth. He knew I didn't want to walk into a room full of people, so he had them show up at our house! My bday is Dec 16, so the first guests to arrive acted like they were carolers! The doorbell just kept ringing as more people "surprised" me -- it was fun! :)

  19. Too Cute!!! Thanks for the chance to win these great sets! My favorite birthday surprise was when my husband and I were dating and he surprised me with a homemade dinner by candlelight when I came home from work.

  20. My favorite birthday surprise was for my 21st birthday. My hubby and I went out (duh!!, 21) and I had the worst hangover for like 3 days. I MEAN TERRIBLE!! Turns out I was just barely pregnant, not hungover. Of course, "partying" ended and I now have three kids.

  22. Cute little birds. Got the Anniversary ones and may have to get this too - or better still, win them :)

Favorite birthday surprise is hard to pick, have had some wonderful ones. Most recent one was my DH sent me away for a weekend of skiing (haven't skied for 13 years - since we had kids) and even though it rained all the way to the top of the mountain that weekend, I was able to relax all on my own. To top that off, while I was away he had the inside of our new home painted (we had pre-chosen the colours already) so I came back to a wonderful array of colours instead of builder's white on my walls. He is the best!

Thanks for the chance to win.

Birthday surprise....let's see... oh, we were going to my Aunt's house for dinner and she was going to bring out a cake at the end for my mom's bday but didn't want my mom to know....so we kept it a secret....so we ate dinner, then out came a cake for me! My bday was a few weeks after my Mom's... It was so fun!

  27. Such cute birds and I love those ornate presents! My birthday is on January 1st, so any time folks actually show up for my birthday party (usually they are too hungover) is a favorite surprise for me. My two besties and their families always come and I love them forever for it!

    Blessings,

These birds are so cute - the samples are awesome! I guess the best birthday surprise for me was when i turned 16 (very many years ago!) Most girls had Sweet 16 parties. But my parents offered a trip to Italy with my high school - who could pass that up? I was surprised because I didn't think we could afford it so I never mentioned it to my parents. Somehow they knew aboujt it and made the offer!

  35. Those sets are so wonderful! I just love the birds. :)

Surprises? I'm really not much of a surprise person...but I was thrilled last year when my dh and dd (then 5) ordered a cake for me. My daughter insisted it be a "scrapbooking" cake! LOL

  36. I love the new birdies!!! My favorite birthday surprise was my sister and mother sending me cool papers/inks/etc. when I lived in Bogota, Colombia from the local LSS and they don't even papercraft! It was very thoughtful and much needed in a place where you can't easily get that kind of stuff. Heather

  40. Darling little birds! I think that my favorite birthday surprise was combination "birthday/housewarming/engagment" surprise party that my hubby threw for me when I turned 30! He invited many of my friends and family and I had no clue. Of course, earlier that day, he asked me to marry him and I didn't see that coming either! That was 7 years ago! I couldn't be happier.

  42. Love the new birdies! My favorite birthday surprise was the time that my husband went sneaking around behind my back to buy a beautiful blown glass vase from an artist friend of mine. He didn't even know her last name, and he still managed to track her down, buy the vase, and get it wrapped and included in our packing for an out of town trip (I'm the packer, not him!) without me finding out. I was completely stunned when he gave it to me.

  44. Wow!! All the samples are SO CUTE!!

My favorite birthday surprise was a surprise party planned by my hubby in high school, before we were married (we were HS sweethearts). My bday is in July, so I never had a party because most people were gone on vacations. He planned a party for me in May...which was a HUGE surprise! I had no idea what was going on, why there were so many people there, and why they were all saying 'Surprise!'...lol :) It is still my best bday party ever!

  53. On my 50th birthday my DH and BFF threw a fantastic surprise party for me. About 100 people enjoyed kits done about me, photos of my past and my predicted future and danced and played pool. What a great night. People who I hadn`t seen for years, students I taught and family from away were all there and laughing away. It was awsome.

  54. My favourate birthday surprise was in my student years when my boyfriend (who, as a student, had very little money & thus had to be innovative) made a plan & organized my house mother's bathtub for the whole day (which BTW is a big deal because she's SCARY! and we only had access to showers) So he put candles everywhere and filled the tub with bubble bath and he also bought me 2 pairs of socks (since mine had holes in them and I didn't have money to replace them). And yes, I thought the socks were really thoughtful!

My dad had just died of cancer (10 days before Christmas and 3 weeks before my birthday), and Mom hadn't planned anything for my birthday. The girls at the high school where my mom was the secretary felt sorry for me (and Mom) and gave me a little party in the office after school!
