Masquerade Post Release Spotlight Hop

Welcome back to Verve's October 2014 Release Celebration! Three new sets, three new dies and a sequin mix just released on Saturday and today the Divas are back sharing inspiration with the new Masquerade and the new Gown Die and Mask Die Set!  The hop starts over on my blog, Poetic Artistry, so see you there!

I actually have a card to share here as well as a new one on my blog today.  I've just been having so much fun creating with these masks!

I went with some regal colors that  reminded me of the opera... blackberry bliss, so saffron and black. I first stamped the mask in clear Versamark on the So Saffron to give me a rough guide for placement.  Then I stamped the feathers twice in black and the dangles in black as well.  (Tip: If you're staggering them like this, you might want to use the eye cutouts from the die cut to mask off the die holes so the dangles don't extend into the open space behind the die cut.  I didn't do that here and had to do some tricky placement to hide the top of one of the dangles.)  I then added the handle cut from blackberry bliss behind with two gold pearls for accent.  The flourished mask is stamped in blackberry bliss over the Mask Die cut from white cardstock.  I embossed both the feathers and the mask in clear embossing powder for some extra pizzazz.  Before I glued it all down, I stamped the star randomly in so saffron, then sponged around the edges of the panel with so saffron ink.

The Masquerade stamp is embossed in white onto a Charming Oval die cut, then lightly sponged with some white ink.  I added a piece of blackberry bliss embossed with the d'vine swirls folder down the side, then added some spellbinders photo corner accents on the other side and finished off with some gold pearls.

Stamps: Masquerade (Verve Stamps)
Paper: blackberry bliss, so saffron, basic black (SU!), white (Neenah)
Ink: blackberry bliss, so saffron (SU!), jasmine white (Mix'd Media Inx) Versamark, Black
Accessories: Mask Die Set, Charming Oval Die Set (A Cut Above by VERVE), Gold Corner Accents Dies (Spellbinders), shiny gold flatback pearls (Pizzazz Aplenty), D'Vine Swirls embossing folder (Cuttlebug), corner rounder

Masquerade is a 4 x 6" set of 12 clear photopolymer stamps illustrated by Chaitali Narla. This unique and elegant set will have you all dressed up, whether for Halloween, a masquerade ball or an evening at the opera. While I was creating, I also came up with some fun ideas for homecoming, winter formal or even Christmas balls using the gown image and die that I can't wait to try out.  So many possibilities! Images include builder accessories for Venetian styled masks, a beautiful ball gown and sentiments to match.

The Gown Die and Mask Die Set are stand alone dies without alignment holes.  They can be used on their own or paired with coordinating images in the Masquerade set (the stamped image is slightly larger than the die, so there will be no border around the stamped image).
