A Touch of Serenity

Is this not a fabulous inspiration photo? I just couldn't decide which direction I wanted to go with my card, so I focused my attention on the overall color of the pillows (teal and gold) and the floral designs found on the teal pillow in the top left corner.

The colors I used for my card are Summer Sun and Tempting Turquoise. To duplicate the flowers on the pillow, I used Verve's Thankful Blossoms set. The shape of the flowers in this set are similar in nature to the flowers on this pillow!

I embossed my flowers with white embossing powder on a piece of Summer Sun cardstock. To give them a little bit more dimension, I used a Mustard colored Copic marker and colored in a few of the petals on the flower.

Next, I stamped the large Thankful Blossoms flower twice more on a piece of More Mustard and Tempting Turquoise cardstock. I cut these blossoms out and then layered them on top of each other, using a beautiful beaded fabric brad to hold them together.

The main sentiment comes from one of my very favorite Verve set called Serenity. It is the Serenity Prayer, which can be used for anyone, anywhere, anytime! I used my rectangular Nestabilites for the main image and mat. To add a bit more texture and dimension to the card, I added tiny pearls all the way around the Serenity poem. The blossom that I made earlier was adhered in the lower left corner of the poem.

I really enjoy using an inspiration photo to get the creative juices flowing. It makes it easier sometimes to sit down and create, doesn't it? I think it's SO cool how we all can come up with such different looking cards using the same inspiration piece! That is truly amazing!
